We had Home Depot do all the cuts for us so we didnt have to bother doing it ourselves haha.ok pics. keep in mind i havent taken pictures of everything but its just some that i have.AHHHH HEAT!!!!!start of the boxOOOO and the money shot
December 4, 200915 yr Author OH btw the shell of this enclosure is 8.8 cube total. it probably doesnt look like it in the pics but its a pretty big box for a small 4 door cobalt. we litterally had to cut a very small part out of the back deck. take the door off and jam it through cuz it was barely small enough to fit from every different angle. box goes from the VERY back of the trunk all the way to the front. it was a chore but some how i measured it perfect to be able to fit
December 4, 200915 yr good looking work so far bro. that is smooth how you got the box in there.can't wait to see it all put together.keep up the good workchop
December 4, 200915 yr Author yah there was no other way to make an 8.8 cube box fit into that car since the trunk opening on that car is UBER smallhere is what the box will end up looking like
December 7, 200915 yr Author got quite a bit done today so i took some pics. im still messing with the port to get best output but right now it sounds great. im gonna bring my meter to his house tomorrow night and get to trying some different things out. right now i LOVE the way it sounds for having cheaper subs and only a 1200w amp. no idea number wise what its hitting but my goal is to hopefully hit between a 44-46 on musicFYI i HATE! using this JL Audio amp because they way the connections and stuff is faced.
December 8, 200915 yr Author so i did some port mods and stuff and it sounds GREAT but not very impressed by the number its putting up. it managed to only pull a 140.4 at 40hz. i put the meter in the box and it did a 156 at 40hz and a 158.1 at 69hz.didnt take any pics but we foamed around the box and some minor spots in the back deck. o well its a good thing this is just a daily driver so at least it sounds good. it does a 139+ from 38hz to 48hz so it sounds good on about everything. but the subs are barely moving
December 8, 200915 yr This is a really nice build you have going here. Im likin it. Is that 3/4" birch, like Chop asked? Ive always wanted to use it but mdf sheets are expensive enough!
December 8, 200915 yr Now that I go back and look at the later pics I can see a profile of it and the layers are evident. Those first couple of pics with the grain shots threw me off for a second. Looks awesome dude!
December 10, 200915 yr Author welp almost done just need to fill some screw holes in and coat the inside of the port with bedliner and it will be complete. i will take some vids of it when we get it complete. threw something in the port today and wow i was impressed by how much air it does move.
December 10, 200915 yr What did you cover it with if you dont mind me asking since I cant tell from the picture? I love this design man, keep up the good work.
