Sup everyone? Im a newbie here and need some help setting up a new system. I currently have a power acoustic ov1-5500d pushing 4-kenwood kfc-w3012 in a expedition. I just bought a 02' lincoln LS and would like 2 Fi subs and new amp and im looking to spend around 800. Im looking for a LOUDDDD set up with somewhat good sound quality. any advice?

2 Fi SSD 15"s On A SAZ-2kd? Shit, I Don't Know, Need More Info.

^ need more info, do you plan on doing anything to your electirc system

I have the same car. :drink40: I was thinking of doing 2 15 inch btl's on the saz2000. I would like to see what you choose, all in all i would go with Two bl's but for a couple hundred more you can the btl's. Are you keeping the spare tire or are you decicating the the entire trunk to your system?

Well as far as electrical im planning on doing the big 3 upgrade and looking into another alt. Also i mainly listen to rap and hip-hop, hope this helps. and as far as the trunk im not sure yet, might just leave the tire in place and just use the trunks regular space. also i have no experience in ported boxes and was wondering whats the way to go as far as the enclosure and the kind of music i listen too.

since you're looking to get LOUDDDD and listen to rap, you'll want to go ported

Defiantly ported, when tuned right they play lower, and louder. sealed play tighter and cleaner but take more power to run. I had a hard time with my alternator. The only place I found one was db electrical.com they have 200 amp and 250 amp. I dont know if you have ever changed one but in that car it is a real pain in the ass, everything is so close together.

you should look into the SSD, BL, and BTL since you want to get LOUD. they all will be good just see which one fits into the price range and you have enough room to make a proper enclosure. you will love the results.

are the ssd's a good choice? 12's or 15's?

I like 15s they play lower but the 12 is just as good and can play just as low with the right box. Size comes down to what you want.

15s would be louder, under the right circumstances ofcourse

One more thing, if you think size had anything to with it, take a look at the new sa-8. If i remember right they were doing 140s with one driver. Thats insane.

the BTL's will be the loudest, followed by the BL, then the SSD. the SSD is a good choice just put it in a good enclosure. with $800 for an amp and a sub you should probably look into the SSD especially if you are looking to get 2.

how much room will you have for the box will determine if you can fit 15's or if you should just stick to 12's.

well ill be using the whole trunk of my lincoln ls. Ive done a little bit of research and i think that i wont have enough space for a ported box that hold's two 15's. so ill probably go for the 12's. whats the ideal frequency that the box should be tuned to for these 12's?

i didnt think you would be able to fit the 15's... happy you arent going to try to cram them into a small area. the 12's should sound better since you will be able to give them the proper room they need.

since you want it to sound good and get loud you should shoot within the 32-36hz range.

what amp were you looking at getting to power these?

check out the specs section at there website

SSD---31-35Hz

BL----30-37Hz

x2, dont do dual 15''s in that trunk.

lol my bad on suggesting 15s :peepwall:

i just always picture lincolns always having huge ass trunks so i figured it could work

what about one 15 in the right size box. Wouldnt that do the work of two 12s?

it sounds like he is looking to be as loud as possible and 2 12's should be louder than 1 15 if put into the proper enclosures. the single 15 would be cheaper but the 2 12's should be louder and still fit into his price range so thats why i suggested that route instead of a single 15.

Stop comparing the size of the woofers as what to get and look at the space available. In some instances 2-12"s can be louder than a single 15" and then vice versa. First figure out how much room you have available for an enclosure minus the extra battery, amps and airflow around the box to get into the cabin. Then decide on your budget, then your goals and listening levels, then start deciding one equipment to run with?

Not neccessarily, but most instances you are right (more cone area does equal louder) but it depends on the equipment being used also.

i was looking into the SAE1200D? What do you guys think? anything else you would recommend? and sorry for being kinda ignorant but im lost as far as all the add-on's they have available to put on your sub. and if any are really needed for the set-up i have i mind.

very true... sorry i needed to bold the should's in there. it is very dependent on the install.

We cant recommend anything until you state goals and a budget for each piece of equipment you want to add to your car. Please give us more info to work with so people wont keep throwing out guesses, we need t make this topic a more productive one for you.
