Guess I'll start off with my ride, I got a 1999 GMC Yukon 4 DR. Currently I have 2 12' Alpine type Es in a sealed box, with an Alpine 450 watt amp. I have all infinity door speakers. I'm in the process of upgrading to a better system. I'm getting 1 18" Fi BTL (haven't ordered yet), I have a Hifonics 2010D Amp in the mail, and a rockford fosgate 0 gauge amp kit. Just went to home depot today and picked up the wood for the box. It's going to be right at 7.3 cubic feet tuned to right around 32 Hertz. That's all I got for now, and I plan to post some pics up of my current set up, and build pics for the new one. I will also be doing the big 3, and any other advise on how to prepare my car for all this extra power cheaply? Thanks for reading! Mavrick

Welcome to SSA :sadwavey: Have you thought about upgrading your electrical? adding additional batteries, HO alt and maybe some deadening...of course these arn't cheap options though

if interested, there is a decent sized competition in Lebanon, TN next sunday, 1-31-10.

If u want to go, i'll be there.

We all can help get louder than u will be without going.

If you plan on competing in MECA, u can talk to the guys there about it.

Bring about $65 with you if u plan on it, otherwise u need about $35.

Yeah, I've considered these those options, and I just don't have enough money for a new altenator right now, and batteries, I've heard that I'll need a better altenator so it can run 2 batteries. That'll be the next thing to move on to. I'm definatley doing the big 3, which will help somewhat I suppose, but I know I need to do more than that to run what I'm getting.

That sounds awesome! I've never been to a competition before, so I'll probably just be watching. Thanks for the info on the competition, and you can count me in on that.

I'm about to load up some pics of the car and audio stuff I have. Thanks for the welcome guys!

Welcome! The big 3 is a good start. I would go ahead and see what kind of voltage drops you get after that and then look into your next option.....secondary battery or high output alt. Keep the questions coming though as this is a great and helpful site to learn.

Yeah this site is really neat, I've already learned a lot from just scanning through the different threads. I think I'm looking into adding another battery after the big 3.

By the way, here is the progress so far on the new project. The amp and wires are coming this week. I got all the cuts done on the box, and some glued. I need to put in the 45s, caulk, then I think I'm just going to paint the box. Also I saw someone else on here put bolts through the box for speaker wire "terminals" i guess you would call them. I'm considering doing that, because it looked pretty sweet.

well u can or u can just drill a large enough hole to pas the wire through then silicone inside and out of that hole. I also sprayed foam around the area too but that may be overkill.

That sounds good too.

Also I had a question about the BTL, you can wire it to 1.4 ohm and .7 ohm right? So which one should I run it at for a 1 ohm stable amp? ** Im getting the 2 DVC

the dual 2 ohm sub may read 1.4 ohms per coil on a dmm and that's normal.

Wiring both subs in parallel will give you a 1 ohm nominal load which will read 0.7 ohms on a dmm.

Well I am currently waiting on my amp which is suppose to be here today, and things Ive done to the box, routed edges, 45s in, caulked, and pretty much done painting. By the way, could you send me a PM on a littlemore info on that competition in Lebonan? Like time, specific location, etc. Thanks bro!

Amp is here!
