I've briefly heard a pair of JL 10W6 in a ported enclosure, i liked there sound from what i heard, but i would like more output.

My budget is ~$400

Sub will be going in my ext cab Silverado, and I'm willing to take/leave my back seat out.

I listen to basically everything, from rap to country. About 70% rap/hip-hop and 30% everything else.

My goals are to have a nice sounding setup, with a good amount of output.

I'm not looking for amazing SQ, but I don't want a one note wonder either.

I've been thinking about a DC LVL4, LVL4XL, SSA XCON, Fi BL; I've even thought about going with two lower power subs.

I am leaning towards a single 15" sub or maybe even an 18".

Whatever I choose will be ran off of my Sundown 1500D,

Thanks for reading my essay! :P

dont forget about the sundown line...i have a nightshade 18 and its loud as shit and sounds great with all my music

Flip a coin, if it doesn't work out sell it and buy one other, all great sub choices.

Thats what I did, usually flipping a coin is the end result.

do any of these subs have a different/unique sound to them?

will all of them be able to handle 1500+ wrms

I doubt anybody has dealt with all them to tell you if they have unique sound, yeah all of them can handle 1500+watts but dont need it to perform and sound good. Everyone of those subs are good so its gonna come to down to budget, goals and compromise at the end of the day.

how do you like your z15?

would a single 15 or 18, or even 2 15s drown out a set of amped components?

I honestly cant tell you but wish I knew, I do know that it will suit me though so I am very pleased with the purchase. I had to flip a coin and just know I got a great subwoofer that will do what it needs to.Yes any of those setups could if you have a crappy install but setup right they should be able to keep up with your music and more. It all depends in the install, the time and effort, the power you have and so on.

how do you like your z15?

I have one and it sounds great off only about 400 RMS. Powered by a SAX125.2. They are great subs for a great price.

i have a lot if i leave my backseat out.

i have about 12 ft.^3. max

With the back seat off, or out, you can easily run a 15" sub.

You're on the ssa forum, get an Xcon and be happy (as I am) !!!

With 1500 watts of power you will not want/need a second sub.

You were telling us about your front speakers : I hope they're good, because you will want to hear them with all that bass!!!santa.gif

I always see people using DC for really high output installs. I am not saying they're not good or that they're only made for SPL : I've never heard them.

But I know the Xcon : mine plays with 1000 watts and I love it. A friend of mine has about 1800 watts for his Xcon : I love it even more.

The problem with the Xcon is that when you want to upgrade your ONLY solution is to GET A SECOND ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will not want any other subwoofer.

Sundown SAZ 1500D, its in his signature.

anyone hear two or more of these subs and can give me a comparison?

can anyone tell me if there is a sound difference between a lvl4 or an XL? and how their sound quality is?

anyone know where SSA subs are made/shipped from?

anyone know where SSA subs are made/shipped from?

Las Vegas, Nevada. And they come in a good packaging.

Mine has travelled through the USA, Germany, France, and then went back across the atlantic ocean to come to my house in the Caribbeans (Martinique). All that in 5 days.

I was so happy, I did not even take time to look at it. I put it in the box as soon as I opened the package !!!santa.gif
