Thats funny dude. IB is infinite baffle. There isnt an enclosure. Those speakers are made to sit like any other regular car speaker. Ie: in the rear deck where a 6x9 might sit.

Welcome dude.

What he is saying is that it is not meant to be in an enclosure (As it is stated in the information about the sub). It is made to be mounted similar to speakers that are in your rear deck. As in no enclosure.

You need to look at something like an SSD. Did you already buy it?

ya i have everything

i just need some help on the size of box i need and whether or not it should be ported

You are not listening to what everyone is trying to tell you. There is no enclosure you can put it into that will make it sound like it should, none. That subwoofer is not designed to be used in an enclosure at all. Read up on Infinite Baffle setups a little bit, you'll see what we're all trying to tell you.

I wouldnt. You havent given squat on info to help you. Lets start off by asking why you bought the IB3 in the first place? Then what kind of sound are you looking for?

You can either read about IB setups and how to make one for your car or a better idea would be to sell it and get a sub that is meant to be in an enclosure. IB setups are used more in home audio situations not as much in car audio. Sorry to have to tell you this but the best thing you can do is try to sell it and this time buy a sub like an SSD or look into other brands on this site that also sell subs that are not IB subs.

i was told it was a good sub

im looking for sound quality and load

i drive a ford ranger extended cab

If it's going into a truck you've purchased the wrong subwoofer. Did you buy it new or used? If you bought it new, email Nick or Scott at Fi IMMEDIATELY before you put any more play time on it. See if they might be willing to work out a trade of some kind on here. If not, then see if there's someone on here looking for an IB with something to trade that could be useful to you. There's just no easy way to say this, you bought the wrong subwoofer for the wrong application.

ok thank you

It is a good sub, and it's a VERY good brand. BUT you have to purchase subwoofers for the intended application, not try to force it to do something it's not designed to do.

Not a newbie welcoming thread. Moving to Fi section.

Return it and get your money back best option.

OR

Mount it to the rear window like the Ranger picks Chris (Lucky 76) posted.
