Posted February 3, 201015 yr If i buy a d2 ssd but want to get it reconed can i turn it into d1? I know on the BTLs you have to have the universal option but i havent really messed with SSDs before
February 3, 201015 yr the d2's can form a load of either 1 ohm or 4 ohmsd1's can only forum .5 ohms and 2 ohmsuniversal widens the gap so it can take either the 1 or 4 ohm load.
February 3, 201015 yr Author i know this but say i buy a d2 subs and want to recone it. Can i swithc the impedence to d1
February 4, 201015 yr so wait, i have a d1 fi btl.and it is universal. does that mean i can recone the sub to be a d2or does that mean i can wire the sub to 1ohm already?
February 4, 201015 yr A sub with the universal option lets you be able to recone to a different impedance, d1 to a d2.... or vice versa
February 4, 201015 yr I think all SSD's have the same gap. you can recone it to whatever you need. For the BTL, the Universal gap is the D2 Gap. A D2 sub can be reconed as a D1, even if you did not select universal. A D1 can only be reconed to a D2 if you selected univeral.
February 5, 201015 yr Copper and flatwound coils have different gaps. You cannot put a flatwound coil into a copper coil motor.Outside of that if you have standard and copper coil motors then you can use either D1 or D2.-Nick
