ok so finnaly screwd it back in properly, you cant crack the frame by screwing it in to tight can u? lol. hope not,

anyways, so i tested it a little and noticed air was escaping from under the subs surround where its screwed in, and noticed i failed at screwing it in so had to fix that up,

but you see the weird thing is, once i get the volume just a little past halfway it seems like thats when the sub gets all its power and then it goes crazy, but not untill then.

btw i dont have a af/m head unit, i have an req 5 which acts kinda like a hu.... yeah,, lol its weird.

anyways its got all these settings and stuff

here check it out

http://stereogirl76.com/req52.jpg

for sub it has, subsonic, LP and gain

DON'T USE JUST SCREWS!!!

Use T-Nuts and bolts to mount your driver!

Id definitely get a aftermarket HU in the future sometime. As for the req 5, Try turning the gain down on it.

And idk what the bass enhance switch does, but i'm guessing it's like a bass boost. So turn it off for now.(if you have it on)

ok that says it all, WHY MUST I BE SO FAIL

The req 5 is for "bass restoration" for stock systems. 99% of stock systems turn the bass down as volume goes up, that is why you notice very little till half volume, then all in. The req acts opposite of the stock deck. In other words, the behavior you see with that hooked up will not go away until you get an aftermarket deck. If you just ditch the req, you will lose bass level as you turn it up so you are screwed with stock( unless yours does not do this). X Eleventyjillion on the t-nuts.

I see alot of people using Alpine. Which personally is my favorite. My Alpine CDA-9883 was great for that. But I upgraded to double din Alpine DVD player IVA-W205. NO regrets and definitely no complaints!

If you dont know what you want, I would go to a car audio store and mess around with a few, and then buy one online( unless the store can get you close to the same price). Say you like a deck that goes for 200 online, but normally gets 270 in the store, see if the guy will go down any. If you can get within 10-15 percent of the online price, get the store bought unit, simply for the install( which is free alot of times) and the warranty( which you will more than likely NOT get buying online).

Sonicelectronix.com is where i got mine from. low prices and most of them if not all come with the wiring harness and dash install kit to fit to your car. Great place to deal with! :)

This would be a good but cheap choice: Pioneer Premier DEH-P310UB (dehp310ub) All In-Dash Car Stereo Receivers Car Stereo Receivers and Head Units Car Audio Car Audio, Video, & GPS Navigation - Sonic Electronix

thanks for that site m8!

just went down to a car audio shop, $400 for the Alpine CDA-105

and on that site, $179!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I definitely stopped buying equipment from car audio shops years ago once I noticed the price difference online.

Things have changed as of late, net prices have crept up (shipping anyone???) and b&m prices have crept down. In some cases, it may be better to buy b&m. I bought the 8 id8's in my sig from b&m store, rather than from woofers etc., I ended up paying 20 dollars more for the whole thing, but ended up with a local 2 year over the counter exchange, which kicks the shit out of what woofers etc will do for you.

jc, what is the weight on the 18" btl?

any pics of the install?
