Posted February 5, 201015 yr So before i scurry up the money to buy a sax125.2, i would like to still be able to play my boustin acoustic pro60se 6.5's.digging through the garage i found one of those old school alpine 3522s. i've been looking through the internet and need some clarification. Its 30 watts at 4 ohms. 2channel. the pro60se are 125 watts a side at 3 ohms. so my question is, would the boustin acoustics sound better off of the 3522s than the stock speakers off of my head unit? another, more serious question. i Read on another forum that since this amp is so old school, it won't match up with my head unit. they said the amp is 1v inputs (true??) and my head unit has 4v outputs. to me, it seems as if that would make the amp not compatible. is this true? THANKS Edited February 5, 201015 yr by Frostedflakejake
February 5, 201015 yr holy cow 1v input lol!! crazy!!! but ya have you ever measure (using a dmm) the actual voltage getting out of the rca's? my h/u is rated at 5v and i used my dmm one day and i was only getting about 1.5~ so input shouldn't be A HUGE issue. as for your other questions lol there is no school like old school lol!!
February 5, 201015 yr Yeah the speakers should sound better of the amp then headunit, the pre out voltage is there to match with the gain on the amp so 1 volt will be fine.
February 5, 201015 yr would the boustin acoustics sound better off of the 3522s than the stock speakers off of my head unit?I would hope so. Depends on how poorly the speakers are installed, however.another, more serious question. i Read on another forum that since this amp is so old school, it won't match up with my head unit. they said the amp is 1v inputs (true??) and my head unit has 4v outputs. to me, it seems as if that would make the amp not compatible. is this true? Your headunit won't output anywhere near 4V playing music at normal listening levels. I used an Eclipse deck with 8V outputs on an amplifier that had an input sensitivity range up to 1.5V with no problems. You will be fine.
February 5, 201015 yr Author I would hope so. Depends on how poorly the speakers are installed, however.yeah i got my sound deadening ready and i'm going make some baffles. and is that really it? it doesn't seem like it should be that simple.....hai was actually kinda hoping that the response would be "no, they won't sound better" just so i wouldn't have the temptation to install them once they get here, its cold!!! hahthanks alot for the tips
