My list of up coming projects for the jeep are, run new power wire (1/0), do big three, add second battery, change door speakers, install 4 channel amp for mids, put in sound deadening, find a good deal on an SSA XCON, take out dvd player/monitor and sell it. I've already purchased 100 sq ft of rattle trap, all 1/0 wiring, terminals, fuse holders, etc.., focal 165 A1 components (2 sets, looks like i'll have a set to sell), Eclipse 3242 4 channel amp, Sundown SAZ-1500D and, Kinetic power cells HC1400(starting battery), HC800(rear battery), Curently intalled I have an Alpine CDA-9886 HU, PXA-H100 crossover, Kicker KX1200.1, RE SX15D4 in 4 cu ft slot ported box tuned to 31 hz, Infinity Refererence coaxial 6.5's in all four doors.

Nooooo, install both sets!

EDIT: No screws in the box?

why both?

So it can be loouuuuddd.

You have a misconception, it can be just as loud with one set and a good amount of power. Two sets of components in the door is just an install issue, if you want loud then go for equipment that can get you loud such as : horns, supertweeters, efficient drivers and so on.

I did the big three today. My lights dim less when the bass hits. I checked voltage at the battery with my dmm, and got 14.05 at idle. And with the stereo bumpin, it would drop to around 13.5. The lowest i saw was 13.2 volts with the headlights on and stereo up. Next step is to run the 1/0 to the back and install my second battery. Hopefully that will eliminate the rest of my dimming. If not then i guess it's time to get an HO alternator. Here are some pics of the battery with my ghetto fabulous battery hold down. I made it with my torch and vice out of 1/8" x 3" steel plate. I don't have the covers on my terminals yet. I need to cut down the 1/0 set screws that are too long. then the covers should fit just fine.

Ghetto battery hold down, with fat mat melting out from under it.( maybe that wasn't the best idea)

LOL! It's plenty loud. Lots of Titebond II and about 500 brad nails. It's not going anywhere. It just needs sanded and painted to make it look good now.

You know they sell battery hold downs at autozone for like 5 bucks. Worked good on mine . Good job though dude. When you coming down here to visit?

STFU Fatty. I worked hard on being ghetto. LOL I didn't know autozone sold battery hold downs. But next time I'll start there, instead of working for 30 minutes in the garage. Besides, since I don't have a front bumper I figure nobody is looking at my battery hold down. Either way It's good to see your checking my progress.

Yes sir. Oh and put a bumper on that pos

This is the last entry in this build log. I just bought a 95 cadillac eldorado, and I'll start a build log for it soon.

did you pull the system from the jeep?

did you pull the system from the jeep?

I'm selling it to a friend with most of the system installed. I'll take out a few things, but most of it will stay. Now It's time to start building a new system for the eldo. I'll keep the 1500d, the kinetic hc1400, and maybe pull out the pxa-h100. Here's a link to the caddy, I bought it on ebay. The new caddy looks good. Its always fun to have an excuse to start a new build. hehe.biggrin.gif
