I have an eclipse so i dont have much space to work withplease help! thanks
March 22, 201015 yr Welcome to the site. And before you get to beat up i would suggest you mention what kind of goals you are looking for? Not just a better sub. What are you looking for it to do? What kind of budget? What size's can you work with? Well GL with it all anyways!!
March 22, 201015 yr Welcome to SSA! Before you look at buying a new driver, look at building an enclosure to optimize your current subwoofer.

March 22, 201015 yr If you already have a decent sub, why are you wanting to change? Can you explain the reason for needing to change? What is your budget? Have you thought about redoing your current enclosure? Is it gonna be a one note wonder, or a daily also? There is alot of questions that you should help answer first. This site is great for helping, but we need to know what we are trying to help first.

March 22, 201015 yr Straight SPL competition ??? Street beat ??? Power Class ??? These things Will make a VERY big difference in determining tuning frequency.
March 22, 201015 yr Welcome .... Try building a new enclosure to maximize the woofer you already have. If you still don't like it then change it out!

Is it about to blow? all of my hifonics speakers make that smell. I thought that it was bad and that i am about to fry them. I run them for about 2 mins after I first smell the coils then I turn it down for a minute or two then go at it again. and what kind of box, how big and is the goliath quad coil sub sub ne good that i have? is a L7 better? or solo x better? what is a louder sub. or am I about maxxed out in the 12" range. I want to be able to listen to my music and turn it up ass loud as my lil ears can handle it.... maybe I just need one bad a** box

March 23, 201015 yr Hello, Let's start this way by asking you what kind of box are you running now sealed or ported??? For you to be gtell us about your box now and we can go from there....getting a smell from your coil most likely the box is not the right size and your amp may be clipping ... March 23, 201015 yr That's not how it works hawk.If you are smelling burning coils your pushing the thermal power handling of the woofer, your enclosure is pushing larger than recommended airspace, that can cause some problems.
April 3, 201015 yr may i ask how you have your woofer wired to a single bxi2608?a quad 2 ohm woofer can only be wired to 2 or .5 ohms... which a bxi2608 puts out its most power at 1 ohm nominal.

All pos to pos and all negs to negs the amp can handle it fine but im sure if I had 2 dual 2 ohm subs wired down 1ohm each then to .5 ohms both together it would prob be shutting off bc of all the resistance from both magnets. but one magnet does not create enough energy to hold back my bxi. I think I need to find me a better box. it is hella loud boud I am just trying to get a little bit more out of it.. you may email me if you want. I have a hard time on this site I could not hardly find my post again lol [email protected]
