I hooked up my amp the other day and turned on the car for the first test and the protection light turned on for a couple seconds and then turned off. I wasnt getting any power to the speakers so i checked the manual and it said i either have a short in the speaker wire or my amp is faulty. So i disconnected my speakers and tried again and the light still flashes on then off. Should i send the amp in? Its an SAX-50.4

I would troubleshoot all wires and RCA's to make sure everything is hooked up right. Make sure the RCA's are not pinched. Check all speaker connections as well to make sure they didn't come disconnected and shorted.

Do you have another amp that you could try to see if it works normal?

Is the amp new or used?

If all lights you may also have a bad ground or weak turn-on signal or a messed up inline fuse.

x2 on checking your grounds, they are very inportant to be tight and direct to metal of the car's frame. sand down any rust/paint at the contact points. hope that helps!
