Posted April 28, 201015 yr Just installed my cda-9886 and it plays the radio but on cd's it shows that its playing but no sound. Same with ipod. I'm thinking it has to do with it possibly beig a faulty cd player... which is ganna piss me off. Any ideas?
April 28, 201015 yr I assume it was used? and is there a return policy? b/c when my cd player crapped out on my h/u it costed around 150$ shipped and labour to get it all repaired!I would also recommend giving tech support a call to see what they think it is and depending on what it is they can give you a quote!

So is what your saying it sounds almost positively like its the deck? Ive checked all the wiring but as far as I know none of that would matter...
April 28, 201015 yr I can't be certain so since it is bnib I would recommend calling tech support and telling them it is bnib and the issue and see what they recommend!
April 28, 201015 yr 1-800-832-4101/////Alpine technical supports direct numberGive em a call, they don't fuck around.. good people!!
April 29, 201015 yr It might be a setting that you have to turn on. check the manual.Agreed. I've had a similar problem, I don't think it was an Alpine HU though. I messed with it forever before I read the manual and figured it out.
April 30, 201015 yr Are you using external amplifiers?I'm too lazy to look up if that HU has both an antenna REM output and amplifier REM output. But if so, and you are using external amplifiers, you may have the REM for the amplifiers connected to the antenna lead instead of the amplifier lead. Anytime you change to a source other than radio the antenna output will "turn off" it's output, which would turn off your amplifiers. If this is the case, rewire your REM wire to the amplifier output wire rather than antenna output wire.

Yes the 9886 has both antenna REM and amplifier REM. Make sure you have all amps wired to the blue/whie white, not solid blue.
