Posted May 5, 201015 yr How do you find or know your vehicles peak frequency? And how much high or lower than that should you tune you box for spl applications?I drive a 06 silverado extended cab.
May 5, 201015 yr i thought that vehicle has a resonant frequency of 44hz? as for tuning once you find the resonant frequency (RE) tune the box 4-6hz lower. as for the way to find the RE of your vehicle you need a tone sweet and a sealed box and a sub! play the sweep and while using a db meter find where your car is the lowest and that is the RE of yoru car and tune respectively! enjoy

I should deaden everything first build a mock-up box or throw something in there to take up the 16-18 cubes for my box and then try to find it?

Amazing!Yes, deaden and throw in the filling to take up that room as that will definitely change the frequency your vehicle peaks at.

As it is only one 12" going into my truck? I don't think it would be enough pressure to "crush" the boxes and change the airspace much. Using the term crush lightly. Lol
May 6, 201015 yr you mean to put the sub a cardboard box of the same dimensions that you want your final box to be? it wont hold the sub. let alone play the notes accurately. you need to just build a sealed enclosure for your sub out of some 3/4" mdf or something.

I mean build a sealed mdf box with the sub in it, and build a box to the specs of my final box out of cardboard to just tale up the extra airspace needed to get my true final resonate frequency.
