Ok i am currently up grading my system and i have 2 alpine type r 12s and two alpine mrp-m 500... its pretty loud for what it is. i am buying the sae-1200dv2... and i was wondering that how would i wire my subs and how much power would they be running at... im kinda new i know enough to buy install and know what to look for... i just dont understand how the power is after that.... i was told its half the power gos to each driver.... im confused help...

they are both dual 4 ohm voice coils...

i plan on buying a 15 inch SSA Icon... it all will be in my 2002 grand prix GTP... if you could help that would be awsome...

You can wire those Type R's in parallel down to 1ohm, the amp would put out 1,200+ rms. Each woofer would then be seeing around 600rms.

When you order your next woofer, order a D2 so you can run the amp at 1ohm.

Nope! But it is a great amplifier and does not need a birth sheet for marketing!

whould i be better off with the 1000d or would it be ok that i over power the 15 Icon... and i am thinking a 4 cube box and tuned to 33 htz? would that be a good box for 1 15? the box i have now for my 12s is 2.4 cubes tuned to 32 htz....

It's always better to have more power than not enough and as far a birth sheets, I never go by them anyway because those aren't accurate for real world usage.

Well you didn't tell us what your electrical system consists of.

Do the big 3 (look it up) and you should be fine. The amps are rated for 12.8 volts for real world installs. They are designed to make their rated power at that voltage. More voltage increases the power.

i have been tossing up the idea of the big three and i just havent had the time with the weather and how many hours i have been getting at work.... kinda sucks having a job... lol so a factory car is 12.8 or are they 14.4.. the cap i had read 14.4 all the time and is that just the cap holding that much or is that the car?

So........ how big is the alternator? How big is the battery? We all don't know the factory specifications for every car ever made. A 60 amp stock alternator would have very different results with this setup than a 120 amp alternator.

The big 3 is A LOT easier than you might think.

A car runs at 14.4 volts, plus or minus a few tenths either way. All cars are different. Do yourself a favor and ditch the cap. Get yourself a digital voltage meter if you want to watch the voltage. Caps are not reliable for measuring voltage.

When you introduce amplifiers to the system, thats when cars can dip to 12.8 volts. The draw on the system is why the amps are rated like that.

ok... makes sence.. like i installed my system and ive done some friends and i know enough to work in cars and do electrical but i still dont know enough....lol this helps alot so when i do the big three what will that make the voltage around???? and the cap died i got rid of it and my system got louder.... im not a fan of caps anymore... thank you all for your help... i have learned a lot and i love to learn about systems.....

Most likely only tenths of a volt. Sometimes a volt increase but its unlikely.

Its not meant to solve all your problems but its always the first place to start. Why get a HO alt or more batteries when your current electrical cant handle the task already?
