Well after some delay in trying to figure out the proper enclosure size for my RL-p 15, it's finally in. Thanks again Mike for putting up with all my emails  . It's in a 2.0 net sealed box, temporarily being powered by my Fosgate Power 451S amp. The sub is getting ~230 watts (not much eh?) It will soon be mated to an Arc Audio 1500-XXK. This setup replaced my previous 12" Brahma in a 2.5 cu ft box, tuned to 28 hz. Now onto the review! :)

Only got to listen to the sub for 5 hours or so today. But from what I'm hearing already...I'm VERY content with my purchase! This thing can get pretty loud with only 230 watts. I can only imagine how it'll sound with almost 4 times as much power, though I will be careful with the gains on the Arc amp. Initially I was worried that it won't be as accurate as my Brahma, but this sub hold its own very well. I played things ranging from classical, to Hotel California, to bass heavy southern rap, to quick techno/trance tracks. The RL-p is keeping up with the fast beats from DJ Irene, and can really dish out the low stuff in Lil Jon. I don't think anything was sitting still in my car when I have the volume on my Kenwood deck past level 16. :D Bass lines are smooth in Paul Mauriat's "Love is Blue", as well as other classical tracks.

I will give a more detailed review once I get my Arc amp. Pics will follow as well (my uncle borrowed my digi cam.) But so far...this sub absolutely rocks! I miss my Brahma, but have now found a worthy candidate to fulfill my bassy needs. :D

Thanks again Mike for a kickass product.

wooo, im looking forward to reading your impressions when you give it the power it deserves.

damn the 15 with that little power? hehehe

gotta love the RL=p

That is good stuff. It makes me more confident in my decison to go with the 15" RL-p for my future system. I had some concern regarding the 15" beaing able to keep up with the fast transients, but it sounds like it handles those with no problem. I imagine with more power it will sound amazing. Let us know how it does with the other amp. :)

Yeah, I'll give a more detailed review after the Arc comes in. I can't wait... :D

and CrushingCory...don't worry about it being able to keep up with fast beats... it'll reproduce them quickly and accurately.

" The black hole"

How come you didnt bridge the amp ?

Or run 1 channel to each coil and use a Y adapter for the RCA's so you get the same signal to each coil

  • Author

the amp isn't 2 ohm stable bridged, and i was kinda lazy to remove the sub to wire it into series for 8 ohm load. so i just stuck it on one channel.

how can i run a Y on the rca? there's only one input on the amp.

I dont see the problem

A dual 2 can be wired into 4ohms.

That amp should run at 4ohms bridged just fine.

Unless thats a dual 4 but i dont think Mike had the D4 Rl-p with the new design

my rlp is dual 4, they didn't have the dual 2 when i placed my order :(

Unless thats a dual 4 but i dont think Mike had the D4 Rl-p with the new design

mike cancelled the d2, all the new driver's are d4...

u need to share some of those drugs...lol..

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:
