I have done some searching and can't seem to find a post anywhere that addresses what people like to listen to during the setup of their front stage--not the subwoofer. What CD's or tracks do you guys prefer for setting up the angles of your front speakers and to generally test the imaging and staging of your setup?

Usually I use Euphoric Midnight Bass. I also use different voice CDs. Then music.

Thanks for the links Squeak, will order them in the AM.

How about changing the question to good recordings that are worth owning for that purpose? High fidelity and a long drive are sometimes more important than the genre to me anyways...

Van Halen - Right Now

Rush - YYZ (just the few first seconds anyway)

Nirvana - Breed

Guns 'N' Roses - Night Train; Paradise City

Eagles - Take It Easy; Life In The Fast Lane

Chicago - Make Me Smile

Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Philadelphia

Enya - Only Time

Lenny Kravitz - Dig In; Supersoulfighter

Jessica Andrews - There's More To Me Than You (Ballad)

Lauryn Hill - Joyful, Joyful; Oh Happy Day (you know, Sister Act movie ... the tracks work well)

Bunch of Dire Straits + Norah Jones

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer - Lucky Man

50 Cent - Outta Control :hay::lol:

Switchfoot - Beautiful Letdown

one of the cleaner recordings I have heard in a while

I demo Dire Straits---greatest hits----Romeo & Juliet one of my favorites.

Eyna---of course

and even the Red Hot Chili Peppers----"Higher Ground"

anyone that listened to the Magnum up @ Princeton hear a bunch of differant music in it.

the Chesky cd that meca uses for judging sq. I have it and its awesome

Yes anything Chesky makes is awesome for SQ; I have one Chesky CD which i forget the title for and is excellent for dynamics.

Van Halen - Right Now

good song yo. also check you Christina Aguilara - Beautiful.

wanna test front stage...try tom sawyer by rush. if your system is setup properly, you will be amazed

also, i would recommend......

Michael Buble: feeling good

Marc Cohn: walk on water

Diana Krall: Temptation

I have the entire 2001 Soundtrack :D

Try playing the music with the voices (what's playing when they're discovering the monolith on the Moon) with the lights out...freaky chit :)

Eva Cassidy is another favorite of mine..."Wade in the Water" and "Wayfaring Stranger" are both excellent.

The Black Hawk Down soundtrack is friggin' amazing as well..."Gortoz A Ran J'attends" gives me goosebumps...James Horner 4 teh win

Santana - Abraxas also comes to mind...I'm going to have to bring a lot of CD's, hehe.
