you have 2 options. buy the aq2200d and a BTL d2 and wire the sub to a 1 ohm load. OR buy the other aq1200d strap the other one and its now stable at 2ohms so then buy a BTL d1 and wire it to a 2 ohm load. either way but make sure you buy the right one (d1 or d2)

Punctuation is key, I would just buy another aq1200 and strap them, just make sure you buy the D1 so you can wire to two ohms. In your manual it should show you how to strap them, if they're strap-able.

I would post the AQ1200d on the F/S thread and see how many bites it gets, if it gets a lot of interest then i would sell it and buy the AQ2200.

As for the same chance as failing, there's a lot of things that come into amps failing lol so i can't answer that question without some doubt.

I have never heard of this before, I'd like to see some more information on this. This maybe an AQ thing, but i've never seen this happen, ever.
