I will have a stock car (130a alt., stock battery, big 3 done) and plan to run 1 15" SSD w/ BP power off a SAZ-1500D.

Question is, do I buy the dual 1 ohm sub wired at 2 ohms, or get the dual 2 ohm sub wired at 1ohm?

Sundown.com rates the 1500d @800rms at 2ohms...

Which would be better? Wiring @ 2ohms would have less voltage drop correct? But wouldn't the amp be working harder ie. the gain would have to be much higher when running @ 2ohms?

If I ran it @ 1ohm I could keep the gain really low so I'm thinking that this would be better for the amp.

Any Thoughts?

do you plan on keeping the amp for a while? do you plan on upgrading another SSD 15 so you have 2? I'd get dual 2 ohms for a 1 ohm load and just have extra headroom.

I do plan on keeping the amp for a while. No plans on getting another SSD, but possibly plans in the future to upgrade to a BL if needed.. That's why I got the 1500d, just to leave myself some headroom...

So dual 2 at 1ohm with gain all the way down would be fine on my stock electrical right?

What's better for the amp? Running at Full RMS @2ohms or running below RMS @1ohm?

yeah have the gains down and just listen and watch the sub when you set it up.

can the SSDs take any more than 800rms or are they pretty accurately rated?

they can take more if your smart about it. I had a 12" SSD that took 1500 watts daily.

He means dont be an idiot and use the bass knob or any bass boost features on your amp/head unit or anything else and to set your gains correctly and carefully. The gain is NOT a volume knob. Set your gains with an o-scope. Clipping will kill your equipment. Set your subsonic filter as well as it will keep everything under control at different frequencies. Don't turn your volume knob on the head unit all the way up. Just because your gain knob is at halfway of its full turning point does NOT mean that you aren't using all the power you paid for in the amp. You could be getting full power at 1/4. It all depends. An SSD can blow at 500rms and wont blow at 1500rms. It depends on the install. Hope i answered your question and if im wrong just shoot me

I don't have access to an o-scope, but will prob set the gain with a DMM... I will be turning my gain all the way down but have the head unit all the way up and start ramping the gain up from there...sound good?

Yeah i mean thats fine. But i wouldnt suggest turning the headunit up all the way. probably 35/50 because i highly doubt youll always be listening to it all the way up but its up to you. I would think having it all the way up would blow your speakers. But when setting the gain, listen for distortion. When that starts bring it back down just a hair and you should be good. But look around your local shops and ask if they have an o-scope or ask some help setting the gains
