Posted October 7, 200519 yr First off, you can see the new logo that we are using on all new Premium Series drivers in the above picture. It came out beautifully on the annodized aluminum cones, crisp printing with a slightly metallic copper sheen to it. We will be phasing this logo onto all new Premium and future Ignition Series drivers. All current 12"RL-p's feature this logo, while the 15" RL-p will continue to feature the solid "S"logo until the current stock runs out.Secondly, we received our new 12" stock this week and now have both the RL-p12and RL-p15 D4 drivers available for immediate shipping. Third, and perhaps the most exciting news - due to popular demand, we are re-introducing the dual 2ohm voicecoil configuration on both the RL-p12 and RL-p15 drivers. This coil configuration will be ready to ship by next week!Lastly, I would like to express my sincere apologies for the delays in restocking our 8" and 10" RL-i Series drivers. My most realistic estimate for availability on both of these drivers is anywhere from 3 to 8 weeks time. This means that we could feasibly see December arrive before these drivers are availble for shipping again . The principle delay at the moment is a basket shortage on both sizes. We could have had the 8" drivers ready sooner if I decided to move with a grey 4-spoke basket, however it does not offer the same clearance as the original 10-spoke and I did not want to risk the integrity of the driver in order to speed up the process. At any rate, Ignition Series drivers will be available again before 2006,and hopefully by early November. As always, if anyone has any questions or concerns, I welcome you to email me, shoot me over a private message, or just post your thoughts here on our forum!Big thanks to the SSAudio crew for giving SoundSplinter a home on the 'net, manyof you have really helped to get this business off the ground floor by telling yourfriends or just letting people listen to your equipment, so thank you! Don't forget that I will give a $10 credit for each person you refer that mentionsyour name at their time of purchase. All SSAudio members also qualify for freeshipping on our Supreme Series drivers through October 15th!
October 7, 200519 yr Author Yea yea, I know - that's why I changed it! Ain't no one excited about the dual 2's makin' a comeback!?
October 7, 200519 yr Not really. You sometimes wonder if they are just sitting around laughing at how long you have to wait.
October 7, 200519 yr Yea yea, I know - that's why I changed it! Ain't no one excited about the dual 2's makin' a comeback!? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Very excited, now I know that it will be possible to add a second sub if I want
October 7, 200519 yr Admin Yea yea, I know - that's why I changed it! Ain't no one excited about the dual 2's makin' a comeback!? I think that is awesome news, I did not want to tell you before, but I think the lack of D2's were hurting your sales figures,so can I ask, are the RL-i going to remain only D4, and the RL-p will be in the D2 and D4, and the RL-s will stay S3.5?just wanted to clarify
October 7, 200519 yr Author I don't doubt having fewer variations in inventory caused me to lose a few sales. But it was necessary at the time, given the cash flow that was available and the added costs for stocking the different voice coil configurations. A tradeoff to be sure, but since the D4 was selling more than the D2, and our brother forum SI already carried a popular D2 driver, I made the decision to ditch it - fortunately, it was only temporary! The RL-s will be staying where it is for now. RL-i's will almost surely be made available in both dual 2 and dual 4, however as they are out for the moment, let's wait until they are in the picture again before making conclusive statements

October 8, 200519 yr Author .. and as I posted in that thread, I don't really want to give conclusive statements on a line that is in the midst of all sorts of supply delays BUT, I certainly wouldn't mind the RL-i12 making a comeback
October 9, 200519 yr i need a new audio project to work on... if i could sell thoes 2 damn 10's id pick up a single 8, build a nice ported enclosure from teh scrap wood from the 18's box for it to play with...then sell it... maybe for more than i bought it for... im getting bored.
October 10, 200519 yr Plus the fact that dual 2 ohm coils make it easy to hook up to a home system. Wire them in series for a 4 ohm load which just about every plate amp is designed to operate at.

November 5, 200519 yr Author The baskets are made, but we had to source them from China so they're currently undertaking the long voyage by sea towards the port of Los Angeles.. I'm estimating about 2 to 4 weeks before they are ready to ship. The waitlist is a little ridiculous and continually getting bigger - but of course seeing as some of those people have been waiting for months now, I'm sure they may have opted for something else .. ah well, I can't blame 'em! But I also can't wait to get these new mothers together and bumpin', they should be something sweet
November 5, 200519 yr BOOOO the D2 isnt exclusive anymore and no more writing?edit: ewwww the chinos are making them? watch out for rice residue

November 16, 200519 yr I want to put in my vote for a D2 RL-i 8, that way I could pair two of them up with my 4ch. PPI amp
November 16, 200519 yr Author > so how do we get on this rli-8 waiting list? or are all of the ones you built spoken for?Just fire over an email telling me to put you on the list. As for drivers being spoken for - I have a considerable amount on order (though they will probably be produced in a series of four cycles spaced out over a period of 2 months). BUT, seeing as I don't accept formal pre-orders, it will be first come first served once the drivers are ready. Of course, everyone on the wait-list will be notified as soon as they are available so they'll have a bit of a head start. If everyone on the waitlist chose to order, I may be in a bit of a squeeze to start with, however I doubt that will happen since some of these people have been waiting for up to 90 days and unfortunately they've probably gotten their fix elsewhere
November 20, 200519 yr I just have one question.... Will the RL-i 8" have the high narrow surround like the previous models?
November 20, 200519 yr Author Negative, that is one of the primary reasons for the redesign because, though it did make it look beastly, it served no functional need and was in fact a hinderance to the overall performance of the driver since the material it used was much thicker and resistive to movement than necessary. The driver was never designed to use the full stroke that the tall surround offered, and it was employed in large part because it was readily available at the time and people wanted 8" drivers. The tooling on the new surround and sourcing more baskets is why the recent batch is taking so freakin' long to come to fruition - but it should be ready very soon.
