October 20, 201014 yr Depends on how much that synthetic leather is dude. Cause for 20 bucks give or take i could get enough dupicolor cans to spray about 4 or 5 coats i think. Pretty much puts in a good coat.
October 21, 201014 yr Then what should I use? I like the rugged look of the bedliner, but I want to save weight and be cheap.
October 21, 201014 yr Then what should I use? I like the rugged look of the bedliner, but I want to save weight and be cheap.Your box already weighs a ton, you could wrap it 5 times with synthetic leather or carpet and it won't make a weight difference in the scheme of things...I'd be worried about using spray paint and having it flake off...
October 21, 201014 yr You need a catalyzed paint, or an epoxy, or wrap it with something. A commercial spray-on bedliner will work as well, but it is catalyzed and rather thick. Normal paint will not stand up to much abuse even if prepped and applied properly.

Regardless of how many coats you put on it will look horrible if you take it in and out a lot or if it slides around and hits things. But if you dont have to worry about those issues and your box will stay permanent then paint can be a good cover for an enclosure.
October 22, 201014 yr Author This weekend is Planet Zero meet in Houston at Westhimer Time to blast it and piss some people off Next Monday or Tuesday I will be working on the box in my Auto class, sanding, routing, etc.Hopefully get the paint and everything and more pictures and finally a video will be up
October 22, 201014 yr I appreciate all of the responses, but... The box fits snug between the wheel wells of the 4runner. Like snug to the point where we had to give it a good shove to get in. Even under WOT acceleration from a stop it wont shift. Hard turns even wont shift the box, and there are no other restraints, just the box wedge tightly there. So idk what to use. I'm afraid forcing that box in with synthetic leather wrap is going to cause it to rip or something. BTW I KNOW CARPET IS A CHEAP RELIABLE OPTION BUT I DONT WANT IT. LOL i just hate the look and average-ness of carpet. I want something different and inexpensive. And i think ross would want it like that too. Edited October 22, 201014 yr by Stupidkarma
November 3, 201014 yr Author The box is being routed and sanded!Looks great so far, except my teacher put the wrong bit at the end and sorta dug into my edge Wood putty ftw!Hmm.. Black paint, Maroon, Tan carpet, or synthetic leather.. Help me decide!
November 12, 201014 yr Author makes me cry that I spent 10$ on that can..and it didn't come out the way I wanted it to Edited November 12, 201014 yr by ManRossDamn
November 12, 201014 yr I know they all carry the gallons, but I don't know about the kit. I ordered mine through Grainger. The stuff dries nice and hard, but I would prefer a little sheen.
November 12, 201014 yr Author Hmm.I think i'll go with durabak if I have the 100$ odd dollars in my account that I didn't know I had, xD
November 12, 201014 yr BE careful, once exposed to air, it will begin to cure, so if you only need half a gallon, the rest will be wasted.
November 12, 201014 yr Author Really?man that's disappointing..I just looked at the prices, and I think I might try Herculiner as 98 said.It goes for around 30$ here, and I can get a discount from a buddy of mine.
