So I was browsing eBay for an amp to power my gf's Dcon coming in within the next day or two, and I came across this...

LANZAR 800 W 2 Channel High Power MOSFET Amp VCT2010

Now before I'm flamed for even mentioning lanzar on SSA, realize that this is for my gf's car, not anything major. Just some bass on a budget.. (Good budget 10" sub)

My question: Would this be something optimal for my situation?

It says it's 2 ohm bridgeable, @ 800 watts, so in reality, about 400-500 watts. The sub is a D4. I could wire in parellel into a 2ohm load and bridge to this amp and have it powered about right for it's RMS rating. For the price, I didn't think this could be that bad.. especially for the situation. Am I missing something here that's just God-Aweful and should steer me away from this product? Yes, the price is sketchy.. but what do you expect from something made by Pyle :ughdunno:

I have good luck with the Crunch GPV series amps, it was in the car when I bought it. Overall, it did well, although overrated in power. The car had an also had a Lanzar Opti-drive 12" sub which sounded good too. I did like some other Lanzar Opti-drive amps that I've heard in other vehicles. I would stay with the Opt-drive line. From what I learned, Lanzar, Legacy, and Pyramid are owned by the same company, Sound-Around Inc. I would assume that the lower Lanzar lines would be similar to something similar from Legacy or Pyramid.

However, I had Sundown amps and IA sub from another build that I was going to do, so I just went with what I had since they also fit my space requirements and I wanted to 2 Ohm load on my IA sub.

There is a 2 channel Lanzar opti drive 2402 amp on the classified here, that seems like a really good deal.

I forgot to mention that I had Alpine MRP amps in my last set-up, which fit my space requirements, sounded nice and were very reliable. The price seems pretty fair on them too currently.

you might notice the kenwoods and hifonics are putting on more "power" at this price point. i doubt the kenwood can even put out rated anymore and im personally not a big hifonics fanboy. im sure there are some other options you could throw in the mix, alpine for example, but your looking for like 300 rms for 100 bucks. output wise these should be all about the same.

edit: and yes lanzer is shit

So am I more likely to get 300 RMS out of one of those for $100 as opposed to the lanzar that's rated @ 800 watts for $60? I mean even if the lanzar only did half of what it's rated.. that's still more than what those others are putting out @ 2 ohms, and almost half the price.. so what's the deal?

On such a low budget I would look into an AudioPipe amp.

I've gotten suggestions for other amps, but still no answer to my question. Would this be suitible for my situation? And WHY not lanzar? Like I said, HALF of it's rated RMS is more than what I need for this sub, and still half the price of these other suggestions i've been given that do right at RMS.. :puzzled:

Why do you want a very low end amp on such a good sub ?!!

Get a better one, used maybe.

Do your woman a favor!

Audiopipe is very cheap, Kenwood and (some) Clarion too.

Good luck !

Amps most important component of your system dont go cheap on that end.

Yes it will work, for how long? Nobody knows. You get what you pay for imo!

I may go with a refurb rf 300.1 for 100. Or a used mtx thunder 300.1 for 100. Either of those sound good?

Audiopipe is priced very cheap. I ran Audiopipe 3k and my gf has the 1500. The AP line is very worth the money.

Check this out. Its cheap as balls, has SUBSONIC FILTER and is VERY small. http://www.caraudiodeals.com/audiopipe-apsm1150-p-3996.html :) I would say my lanzar amp but it's only 4 ohm bridged stable.

Stop reading Ebay specs. They could very well state 8000w as it isn't a tested specification NOR is it RMS. No way in hell that amp does anywhere near that power

Amps most important component of your system dont go cheap on that end.

NOT EVEN CLOSE. :( Everything else is more important.

Old ZED built Lanzar amps are very nice. ;)

was the old lanzar 1200D (I think it might have been a vibe model) that was actually a good amp zed built? I think this was probably 7 or 8 years ago.

I don't believe the "Vibe" line was Zed built. The grey powder coat Opti-Drives were Zed built irmc.

Do you think that would be enough to power a dcon sufficiently? The dcons RMS are @ 300 watts.. So I know they can handle a little over rating just like any other SSA product

Dont really need to throw a lot of power on the dcons to get them loud. Put rated RMS on it in the optimum ported box and call it a day!

Gotcha. Thanks guys.. I'll probably go with that AP you linked Phi, or the RF 300.1. I'm building her 2 boxes.. First one will be an optimal sealed, and the second will be optimal ported, both using the designs direct from SSA tech section. I'll see which one she likes best, and use the other one for something else. :drink40:

Think she'll like it?

Build a box and save up least 40 more $ for a half way decent amp not no china chink slap a*s special!

You know your AQ2200 is "china chink slap ass special" right? And I'm thinking you are talking directly to me since I am a "chink". :wavey5:

Why don't people understand you can get quality from china? Its the companies that don't wanna pay for quality that you should point your finger at not the Chinese build houses. They do what their paid for.
