Posted October 21, 200519 yr if the rl-s is a 4ohm svc woofer... how would you guys suggest powering this beast. bridging a 2 channel amp is the best i can come up with. Any name brands to look at...
October 21, 200519 yr With a good power supply, a single Memphis 16-MCD4kw would be good. Or, if you really wanted some power on tap, strap a pair of them to the subwoofer.Rockford Fosgate T30001 should give in the 1600-1800w range @ 4ohm. Or strap a pair of the older 1500bd's or 1501bd's for close to 3000w @ 4ohm. Strapped Orion 1200D's should be ~1600w @ 4ohm..If you could find a Tru Tech Sledgehammer SH1 around, that would give you ~2000w @ 4ohm.If the Kicker 2500.1 is underrated, it could be capable of atleast 1500w @ 4ohm.Autotek MM4000.1D should give 2000w @ 4ohmMassive Audio D400X should do ~2400w @ 4ohm I believe.Older US Amps had a 2000 (or 2000X, whatever) that would do ~2000w @ 4ohm. Don't know about the new lineup.Hifonics XX Goliath should do ~1500w @ 4ohm.
October 21, 200519 yr Admin I was looking at either AX2000 By USamps. Or something else i forgot.that would be a great amp to push it
October 22, 200519 yr Hifonics XX Goliath should do ~1500w @ 4ohm.Pfft ... go for the Maxximus If I were going to use the RL-s, I'd likely jump on the JBL Power BPX2200.1MTX Audio Thunder TA81001 might work.
October 23, 200519 yr Those are class D amplifier. Whatabout class AB amplifier that can produce 1200watts @ 4ohm??? On top of my head is ARC Audio 2500XXK 1040watts@4ohm. Anything elses???

Anything elses???Why would you want such a high power, low efficiency amplifier? The older US Amps were A/B (don't know about the new stuff). Soundstream Rubicon 1002 is class A/B and will belt out atleast 1200w bridged to 4ohm. Though I'm not really sure why you would specifically want one Go class D and "forget abou' it". Efficiency is your friend.
October 23, 200519 yr I used to have hifonics colossus amp to power up 2 IDMAX subwoofers... and when i change to H-1, the sound quality is better... the frequency range is wider... etc etc... so i guess i'll stick with class AB amplifier... i wouldn't mind about efficiency as i have 3 batteries in my car...I'm not a big fan of Soundstream... any other options mate?

And don't confuse a limitation of a specific amplifier as being a limitation of the design as a whole.
