I was leaning towards getting the Sundown Audio 1200 for when I purchase two Fi Audio SSD12 subs. But came across the Audioque AQ1200D. Is the Audioque AQ1200D a suitable amp to run for the SSD12 subs?

AQ1200D:

510X1 @ 4 ohm,

870X1 @ 2 ohm,

1200X1 @1 ohm

SAX 1200D:

RMS power, 1 ohm mono

1200W x 1CH

RMS power, 2 ohm mono

720W x 1CH

RMS power, 4 ohm mono

360W x 1CH

Sure it is, but you won't get full power out of your subs.

(btw, i think you posted in the wrong category)

Sidenote I was going to get the dual 1 ohm SSD12 subs.

The audioque would underpower them or both amps?

My bad if it is in the wrong category.

The Sundown is probably going to put more "clean" wattage when gains are set right, as for the AQ being a good budget amp, will put a little less power to the subs imo.

Good luck :)

Would be a great amp but with the fully loaded SSD's you can push more power like the new Sundown SAZ-1500D v.2! :neil:

:morepower1:

Here SAZ-1500D :fing34:

This is your best bet if you're trying to save the cash and get more out of the subs. Seems like your budget is pretty tight.

I got a used sundown 1500d I'll sell ya, say 250shipped...

i think you should allways get a bigger amp than you plan to use. if you get a 1200w amp and two 600w subs your making your amp have to work as hard as it can to power the subs. and usually with an amp at full power its puts out more distortion. id say get a 1500w amp like 98GMC said and just turn your gains down its good to have that extra room too especially if you ever decide to enter into a comp because, usually with subs they have a peak wattage rating that for about 2-3 seconds you can burp a little lower than and not fry the coils. which is nice when someone thinks they got ya beat, and you pull out that little bit of extra wattage :)

Thing about these subs is they're rated at 800rms, not 600rms, and with the options it's easily a couple hundred more rms tolerance than stock. Even the 1500 is cutting it close but i recommend it because it sounds like he's on a budget and it should power them well.

Just saying :)

:lol2: oh yeah good point i dont know why i was thinking 600 well then yeah 2000w would be more right but if he's on a budget i guess he could go with the 1500 ii should check it out too i might step up from my soundstream amp to it

Instead of just throwing Sundown amps out there, what is your budget? Do you want to do any electrical upgrades, if so what is your budget for that as well? This will determine what amp you really should get for your application.

Just for the record, I'm not in any way, shape, or form pushing a sundown amp or even mine for that matter.

Using 1200watts or 1500watts isn't going to be an audible difference, But there's no harm in buying a bigger amp if it's cheaper and does everything you want it to do. So I was just throwing the option out there for the OP.

i dont really have a budget ill just save, save, and save till i get enough money lol my car has a stock supercharger so i upgraded the battery, alt, and upgraded the big 3 to 2awg before i even bought a system although i am only running a 4awg kit for my amp so im thinkin it could use an upgrade before i get a bigger amp id be looking for maybe 1400-1600w but im thinkin maybe around $400 to spend on it im not sure ive never bought an amp that big so i dont really know what they cost really i paid $150 for my amp Oh wait you know what i could allways buy my exact same amp again they can be ran in master and slave through a data cable thats supplied with the amp but then again it pushes really clean wattage but its made in china so im not sure how long the parts in it will last its a soundstream rubicon 1.1000d the 2010 model

If you do decide to run another amp like you have then you will need to get 2 D2 subwoofers so you can end up with a 2 ohm load. I dont think you will have a problem with those amps but if you want to upgrade for personal preference then that is not a problem as well. If you do go one amp then you will need to get 2 D1 subwoofers so you can end up with a 1 ohm load.

With an upgraded battery, alternator and 2 awg wire for your big 3 you may be fine with an amplifier upgrade but that will be hard to say without any specific information on the upgrades. Get a voltmeter so you can watch your voltage and install the equipment when it gets there, if you have bad voltage drop then your current electrical upgrades are sufficient.

As far as amps go then I would stick within the 1500-2000 range depending on your experience with headroom and amp settings. If you dont feel comfortable with a amp that has some headroom power then an amp around 1500 rms or more will be fine for those subwoofers.

Sorry if this comes across being harsh but his question was for the OP, not you. If you need help post a new thread.
