Posted November 29, 201014 yr ok i ordered two 12" black "Fi"day x series woofers. should i put them in a ported or sealed box? i can locate the recommended volume. if ported would be better what should i tune the box to. also what should i set my crossover frequency at. i will not use bass boost at all in fact my bass on my headunit will be -2 and 0 on my amp. depending on what i tune my box to i will set my subsonic filter 2hz less than that. i just want the most output possible from the woofers without risking damaging them
November 29, 201014 yr Author yes ive never made my own box before, but i have found a website that has a calculator. you enter the dimensions youd like your enclosure to be, tuning frequency, how wide, and tall of a port, and it will tell you how long to make the slot port. would that be ok or should i just build a sealed. will the sealed give me the output i want?

November 29, 201014 yr Author HAHA you have a link to the12volt the site i was just talking about that had calculators
November 29, 201014 yr Author could i get the output i want from a sealed or should i go with ported i know with a sealed i could run more wattage through them and have less risk of me killing them and would be easier to build but ive only had one other sealed box before and im not sure it will sound good well the way i wqant lol
November 29, 201014 yr In your first post you refered to the most output possible, not the easiest enclosure to build. Do the sealed and try it, then build the ported and get the most output.
November 29, 201014 yr Author ok thats what i will do ive got alot to learn and just read some of the forum rules and guidelines so i will try to search for most of my questions first and if unable to find then post a new topic with specific questions and all equipment involved thanks very much for your help and every one who shed some light on my dark car audio brain and put up with my rambling lol
November 29, 201014 yr You could also make a seald box that is large enough to ad an aero port later. I did that and decided I liked ported
November 29, 201014 yr Author well every box ive ever owned has been ported except for one and i know i like ported but they have all been prefab ones i bought the setup ive heard that i liked the most was two 12" kicker cvx's in a ported box on a audiopipe 1600d in the back of a blazer i loved it and since have been trying to get that much bass in my 2000 grand prix gtp i just ordered two of the black fiday xseries 12" woofers and i own a soundstream rub1.1000d amp and an alpine headunit i usually dont have much money to spend so have been trying to get there on a very small budget so far ive spent $440 on the amp headunit and subs all bought brand new which is the most ive ever spent on one setup and im really hoping theese Fi 12's will sound how i hope Edited November 29, 201014 yr by BassThoughts

As Bobobass suggested, you could use an aero port for the enclosure and that would make things a bit easier to build.
November 30, 201014 yr PSP makes some aero ports: http://www.psp-inc.com/index.htmlContact Andrew from Argent Audio here on the forum, he's a dealer for the ports.
