Hey guys so I have just finished the new build as some of you have seen in the sundown section and the last step i want to do is to seal off the trunk to from the cabin.

A buddy of mine said to use expanding foam! Notice in the pic under neath at the top of the sub box there is a 2.5inch gap I want to fill up and about 1-2inch on each side of the box I want to put expanding foam in.

now my questions are

1. how many cans will i need

2. is there a specific name to look for or is it all the same

3. how do i do it? just point and shoot?

4. what tips can you recommend

5. how do I remove expanding foam?

6. is there an alternative to expanding foam something that works better?

7. any other tips or help would be awesome!

thanks to any and all who help!

  1. It will depend on how big the gaps are.. but i'd say two or 3 cans would be enough.. I know my local home depot usually has buy one get one free.
  2. Great stuff... is well great stuff
  3. yes point and shoot
  4. Make a beauty panel then foam all around that
  5. Acetone will remove the resiude.. but pretty much anything you don't want foamed either tape it off or use alum foil.
  6. If you want it 100% sealed, i haven't seen anything better.
  7. Make sure you seal everything ,even the rear speakers (if you have them) most of all WEAR GLOVES!

ya didn't think about that as in removing the box from the car...

fiber glass you say sounds like a lot of fun

although on the other hand this car has 360,000km about 224,000miles on it so it is getting ready to die...

i don't know fiber glass sounds a bit better now. I will think about this over the break. thanks for bring up the alternative Tirefryr
