Posted January 3, 201114 yr okay so i just finished cutting and sanding all the pieces of MDF for the new box i'm building.. i used the re audio box calculator and it is gonna be tuned to 32hz. the only problem is that i am not entirely sure if the location of the sub will affect sound quality. just wanna play it safe and get some feedback. the specs are 30'' wide x 17.5'' deep x 14'' high. if the exact calculations are needed ill put em up. thanks
January 3, 201114 yr The only side I wouldn't put the sub on is the one opposite (parallel) to the side with the port. Reason being is you will experience canellation with that configuration. Any other side of the box will work. What vehicle are you installing the enclosure in? Do you have a direction you prefer the port or sub to face in relationship to the vehicle? This may help you decide.

January 3, 201114 yr So are you asking which direction to fire the port? What type of system are you building, SQ or SPL?
January 3, 201114 yr If your gonna do sub towards the door then fire the port the same way, unless this is for competition then a lot of testing will need to be done to find where to place the port.
January 21, 201114 yr Do sub and port back. Mount the sub so it's as far away from the interior port opening as possible.
January 21, 201114 yr Just saying as a side note...The RE Enclosure calculator turns out to be off, by a reasonable bit. I was about to use it for my box but it turned out that it was completely off tuning wise. Anyways, usually in an suv, sub up port back will have the most output usually.
