Posted January 5, 201114 yr So I dont know if I will need an alternator, at least I hope not. However, if I did I dont think it is possible to find an aftermarket one for the 4.2L as it is not a very common engine in the f150...anyone have any ideas (I would not be able to afford an alternator for a long time anyways, might have a new truck by then anyways...)
January 5, 201114 yr if you need an alt will depend on the system you are/ have installed!so i must ask what is your setup you THINK you need an alt for? what else do you have to back it up? batteries? big 3? caps? ummmm setup transformer what you got man? we need a little more info as for an h/o for your truck you need to drop an e-mail to DC power engineering i am sure they can hook you up with something or an alternative or hook you up all togehter with a retro or something
January 5, 201114 yr x2.Specify your goals, what are you planning on running and charging in your vehicle? And then you turn around and say you may sell your truck soon. wtf.I recommend DC Power for an alt, that is if you decide to get one because you actually need it... Edit: what year f150? I tried a couple different year f150s for your engine on DC Power's site, and they make them

I dont have the amp yet, just ordered it so it may be fine, but I was just curious just in case. and yea I was thinking DC could customize something if needed. oh and i have a 2007 F-150...but keep in mind its a 4.2L V6, not the 4.6 or 5.4, its a lot harder to find things for the 4.2

Or competing and full tilt is only for short runs?DC Power listed some older year f150s with the 4.2l option, but with your year it's not listed on the site, however that doesn't mean much, I bet if you call them they'll have it or could make it They also came out with another line of alternators, so depending on your needs and budget they have something that works for everyone.Do you ever plan on doing another build and using more amps? If so then I'd get a big alt.If your not going to be upgrading down the road then you could get one of their smaller alts and an extra battery and you'd probably be good for driving around at full tilt.If your just going to play it at full tilt for short sessions then a couple xspower batts would likely do.

I am not adding more amps or doing another build, this is final

Some say you could use a large battery bank and be fine, but your always going to be draining them and needing a recharge when your at home, and a whole battery bank takes up space and weighs a lot.Either get a top of the line DC alt and run no extra batteries or get a lower line alt and an extra battery for the rear.At least that's what I would do

Should i go ahead and buy the audio q 2200 for my two icons??
