I have installed a second battery in the trunk and I am going to be running the grounds from amps to the negative on the battery. Whats the longest run of ground you guys have used?

the long run I have used with a battery in the back (near the amp) was about 2-3 feet!

why how long is your ground run?

its going to be around 4ft. at 4awg wire.

i wouldnt go more then a few feet from amp to battery. mine are about 2-3feet

good luck w/ install! we love PICS btw!!! :morepower1:

Impious then I'll be ok with my runs? I'm a worry bug and I think things over a million times before I do anything lol. I am waiting on some ring terminals as well as the ground wire so I have time to plan it out. I wanted to put the battery behind the tail light in the corner of trunk and have the sub box towards the backseat, and amps bolted onto the backseat so thats why I asked about the lengths of ground. They would have to come around from amps to the battery.

As for pics lol my car is far from photogenic lol very ruff around the edges!

It's going to a P1000-1bd and a P400-2. This is what i have now, I am working on a different box which would let me put battery between box and seat if all else fails. but sou yu can get an idea here's a pic.

I was thinking that too but after I ordered. I have big 3 1/0 done, 1/0 from front battery to rear battery and then a run o 1/0 from negative on rear battery all the way to front battery negative. the power and grounds from amp would be the only 4g runs.

Just to know where does it become a problem?

As long as you are using the proper size wire and have a good ground connection the length is inconsequential

Personally I would try to step up to 0ga.

But the length of 4' isn't a problem.

x2 step up to a bigger gauge wire! especially if you plan on running a bigger amp down the road!

and yes 4ft will be fine!

Thanks for the input guys I still have a long way to go and I am certainly not done yet. All this will come in handy now and with any future upgrades I might do.

I see myself probably at around 2000rms and different sub LATER on down the road, when I get there I'll for sure run 1/0 power and ground to it. My main efforts right now are to get my electrical up to snuff and next on the list is a :peepwall: mechman 240 amp alt for my cruiser. My plate is full with this as well as baby boy due within the next two weeks :rofl2:
