May 11, 201114 yr Author Another update:I've read and seen a bunch of different views on measuring an amplifiers voltage and amperage using dmms and clamps to find wattage. I've read people argue that it's not accurate, or real world, or that you won't see that much power on music, etc.So take the following for what ever it's worth. I just wanted a rough estimate to see how much power at MAXIMUM the xcons could possibly be receiving. So I of course played a constant 40hz tone, (obviously music is going to be varying 24/7 unlike a tone, but this will show me the AT MOST possibility).I got 71v & 18.5a = 1313w before vehicle voltage started approaching 11.9vSo I guess it's safe to assume that once I have a proper electrical system, that the xcons should get a fair amount louder on the saz3000d.
May 11, 201114 yr Author I would think so, might even be an audible difference. That box looks great. It should be, and by audible, well it's more of being felt that I care about. But those numbers were with the hu at volume 20. At volume 18 I got a little under 1267watts and though it may not have been that big of a difference by ear, it was certainly felt. And again these numbers may be off a little since I don't know how accurate my dmm and clamp meter are. But it does give me faith that the amp still has a fair amount more power before clipping And yes I understand that statement suggests the between volume 18 and volume 20 there is only a 46watt difference. Maybe my meters are fucked up or something Idk. All I know is you can feel the difference and those are the numbers I got from the dmm and clamp.Hope I can break 150 with alt!

Yikes, what is your impedence at 40hz?

May 19, 201114 yr Author So for those that don't know, CrazyKenKid lent me his hyperdynamics meter (make it louder) so I could do some testing (I hope this doesn't get everyone and their neighbor PMing him though... Getting it here was a pain, USPS lost track of it, said it was at one office then another, then on route, then no idea. Finally got it though!)I've read that these meters are fairly accurate to a TL, how accurate? Not sure, guessing within a db or two (at least in the range I'm playing around in).So take it for whatever it's worth...Mounted mic on left side of windshield, vehicle sealed up.36hz 147.75dbDidn't write down the other sealed up results because my voltage was dropping after each run, so the scores couldn't be consistent. Mounted mic on left side of windshield, passenger window down.36hz 148.76db38hz 149.66dbVoltage drop was pretty bad, low 12s, and high 11s for a few seconds.Going to charge the batteries and do a couple more runs tomorrow, perhaps I can get it a tad higher.
May 22, 201114 yr Author TL results are in...Mic at headrest, passenger window down. 146.7db at 38hzHopefully new alt will improve score
May 22, 201114 yr I thought this was a build log! from the 23 pages it looks like a CHATROOM! and you didnt do no DB at no HZ because as you no NO PICS MEANS IT DIDNT HAPPEN!

May 22, 201114 yr Whew man did it come out good. I miss my x-cons but i can tell your enjoying them. Build came out sick and im loving that box looks really nice. I think those are great numbers though i was putting just a tad bit better numbers. Gotta remember to 38hz and 149s is really good.. Now you make me want to meter my btls they are defiantly louder but boy do i miss the sq the x-cons had.
May 22, 201114 yr Author nice score ... that is at 51hz it says?? Barely can read that....I played a 38hz tone so I'm not sure where they got that number from.
May 22, 201114 yr Author Show was pretty fun, fair amount of cars. Got a demo of a escalade with 2 18" L7s and two warhorses. Also heard big wills ride
May 22, 201114 yr Author The escalade with kicker stuff was sick. Pretty sweet build...But wills was louder. Both awesome trucks. Also heard a hybrid audio demo car, all sq, sounded amazing.
May 22, 201114 yr :morepower1: I think i need to make a road trip to AZ for a show weekend, hear all these awesome cars.
