Last system consisted of a sundown audio 3k on 2 re Sex 10's and a sundown 125.2 on the factory door speakers. Plan is to get a sundown 50.4, alpine H701(to be run with an alpine w200) and some hertz 3 way components. Going from 10's to 12's and a forward firing box sealed off. Here is a video of the previous system

Box was tuned to 30hz.

Well here is the tear down and rebuild process

Bye Bye

Blew 1 10 last week and put a cover over the hole so I could still have some tunes for the time being.

Finally sacked up and got me a nail gun. Not the most expensive one in the world, but it gets the job done. I still cant believe its taken me this long to get one. Makes life sooo much easier.

Guess I forgot to take pics of all the pieces cut.

Here it is starting to take shape

After this was taken I brought the box inside, set the top on it and put 3 big batteries to act as a clamp.

Trying to get everything laid out properly

One of my collection of blown subs lol. Used it and the gasket as a template for the future ones

DSCN2183.jpg

And got the subs holes cut out. Just place my order on the areo ports. Hopefully they will be in by Tuesday next week.

Everything is going smoothly so far

I like how the wood looks, although I'm guessing it'll be carpeted or painted lol.

Tuned in, always like trunk builds, they present a challenge :P

Bring on the rebuild!!

quick question, Is that safe to run the battery laying on its side like that? i was under the impression that a battery should never be laid on it's side?

If it is an AGM class battery it should not matter how it is positioned... :)

thanks! just wondering because all of my XS Power 14v batts came in a box with the two arrows pointing up and the top saying "this side up only" so i wasn't sure if it would damage the battery in any way.

as long as its an agm (including your 14 volt xs power) its fine to be on it side. The only thing they recommend is that they dont me upside down, aka terminals facing the earth. Its slowly but surely getting there. The space on the drivers side where the extra wood is, is where the battery is going to go. I already have the frame in place, just don't thing that its necessary to post the picture quite yet. I have to work the day shift tomorrow so no updates till Saturday.

Cut out onto wood. Now to get some foam and vinyl and wrap them up

DSCN2209.jpg

How far away from the seat the box sits. About 2"

Like I said earlier the section to the right on the wood is to hold the battery

DSCN2200.jpg

Battery in place. absolutely no wiggle room. Snug as a bug

Here it is mocked up

Change of plans on the sealing part. Instead of doing 3 seperate pieces, going to do 1 solid piece with a sunken cut out for the subs and ports.

Here is the progress so far

and the back side

I also started painting the part of the box where the port ends are blue to match the color of the car

Got the wood cut and vinyl it. Getting closer and closer everyday

This is how it sits now. Time to work on the back side. Need it done before Saturday for the MECA show in Bakersfield.

I really like the way that looks. If I seal my car again I think I would try the same approach.

I'm liking that also!!

Sweet! Look'n good!

looks nice, can't wait to see it finished

Color looks good. Nice box!
