On my way to work today my alternator spiked over 17v and now is only charging at 13.0v. This is the second mysterious failure I have had with this alternator. Ironically when this happened I didn't even have my stereo above talking level.

What should I do?

April 25th 2011 was when the alternator failed the first time after being installed for a month. Now 4 months later it failed again.

Does this alternator have a bad voltage regulator?????

Eric, I saw that you dropped it off. We will take a look at the alternator and see what's up. We do have an idea of what's causing this problem but I want to make sure we're correct before I post about it. I will keep you updated though! Thanks for being a great hamster for the Hyundai's

Thank you for fixing the alternator. Maybe I will have consistently 14.4-14.7 voltage now as well.
