Posted April 10, 201114 yr I know its a noob question but:I have a single 12" Fi BL 12 in a 2.5 ft^3 box tuned to around 33 hz or so. Its dual 2 ohm wired to 1 ohm on a SAZ-1500D. I am wondering what 2 of the Skar 12s or 10s in the optimal box would be like in comparison. I know that based on cone area alone, it should be louder. My Fi is so much beefier though. My current box is sealed to the passthrough with port and sub firing into the cabin when the seats are down. Any new box would be the same configuration.
April 10, 201114 yr dont think anyone can give you an answer to that.. i would run 1 BL 12" over 2 Skar's any day of the week. lol.. 2 skar's "MIGHT" sound better but i refuse to support it. basically your going to have to just do it to find out.
April 10, 201114 yr You answered your own question. Due to the cone area the 2 12's will probably be louder in a optimal box. What about the Bl displeases you? are you looking for more output?
April 10, 201114 yr Author I love my BL, just trying to get an idea of what can be done. Especially if the trade in program is still going on

Nothing, it is the best sub I have ever owned. I absolutely love it. In anything, more output would be my goal though. Edited April 10, 201114 yr by Chainsaw
April 11, 201114 yr Author Is the whole cone area thing always a hard and fast rule? Is 4 funky pups gonna have more output than 1 sa-8?
April 11, 201114 yr Is the whole cone area thing always a hard and fast rule? Is 4 funky pups gonna have more output than 1 sa-8?Every situation is different, but most of the time, if installed correctly, more cone area = more output. Not always, but the majority of the time...If I were in your shoes, I'd save some bucks and buy another bl to match yours and run amp at 2ohms, or find someone who wants to trade d1 for d2, trade, and get another d1 and wire to 1ohm.
April 11, 201114 yr I'd build a new box and do some testing. You'll gain way more output that way than switching drivers.
April 11, 201114 yr Stick with the BL, If you want more I would invest in another BL. You would be taking the loss on the trade in program imo.
April 12, 201114 yr I agree with everyone above. If you're looking to get more output get another BL like the one you have, get another 1500 and strap them. Just make absolutely sure if you go that route that you have the electrical to support 3k+ of power.Just my .02
April 12, 201114 yr Author It seems my wife and you guys are on the same page; she told me to keep what I got. Haha. That was what I originally thought, just wanted to get an idea. I enjoy my BL and am gonna get it metered soon. Maybe another one and another amp later; wife permitting. Lol
