Being a former Hifonics owner and user I can say that they're fine if you're on a tight budget. They don't quite get to rated power in my experience, but they do get very close. However, I would recommend saving a little longer and buying something else, if you have the patience. Lots of people have luck with AQ amps, they're not too pricey. Sundown's not a bad way to go of course, but there's so many other brands out there that are great as well, the list can be VERY long. I see lots of people recommend Audiopipe amps and they seem to have good luck with them. The pricing is very similar in watt per dollar as Hifonics as well.

Depends on what your lookin at.

Maxxsonics makes some really nice stuff that does more than rated, as well as some budget stuff that is rated at max power.

Dude if you dont want to spend much you can get an audiopipe that is 1000w for around $130, If you want a little better quality but still not breakin the bank get an AudioQue amp like the 1200w for $249.00 both have been known to work perfectly and get their rated power.

Just for your info, I currently run a sundown 1200w but it is about $385 I believe. It is AMAZING but the price i almost double.. Even I in the future plan to go with AudioQue and their 2200w amp because the cost of sundown isn't "cheap" sundown is def. worth the price though!

You could always look into getting a used or refurbished quality amp too. I'm sure there are many people that are selling decent amps if you look around. db-r is selling a SAZ-1000 for 260 right now and a SAE-1200 v.1 for 210 so if you scope around a little you can find a much better and more reliable product for not a huge difference in price. Not trying to push you towards sundown but that is just a site I know you can look for well refurbished amps at and sundown is what they carry. Search around and I'm sure you will find a great deal on a much better amp than what you will get from buying a Hifonics new.
