the MAX size box i can fit is 3.2 cubes before any displacement. i REALLY want a ported box but i dont know if i have room or not. if i go the 8's will they be loud? or will they just be like....keep up with the music loud? i figure the tens will of course be louder....correct? anyone care to hop on aim that has personaly play time with both?

as of now I don't think there are 8's in stock, he is upgrading and making adjustments to them, I think a pair of RL-i 10D4's off that amp would be sweet

A larger driver offering more displacement will definitely have the potential to be louder, so the 10's should be able to beat out the 8's in most applications. Throwing a pair of 8's in ported boxes though will get mighty loud for the in-car environment. Unless you're half deaf (or soon want to be), or the drivers are located in a well-sealed trunk for example, you shouldn't need anymore bass than the 8's can provide, for a well balanced and fairly loud system.

Precisely. Some people just love overkill - I can't say I'm not sometimes partial to it myself. Not to mention, the RL-s is a completely different beast from the rest of our lineup in that it is designed strictly for the most accurate sound reproduction available, and is not nearly as versatile as our other offerings. There are two main points taken into consideration: practicality (ie. value & versatility) and the extreme factor (knowing that you have the absolute best speaker for a specific application). I choose to offer a host of sizes and types in the subwoofer lineup in efforts to cater to a wider range of potential customeres

Mike have you thought about starting a high volume entry level line? I only ask because the RL-i is a very nice sub and is in no way entry level, and the RL-p runs with the best SQ(l) subs in the biz, and the RL-s is like you said a while different beast, so why not something in the ~$100 price point???

While everyone wants a sweet sounding $200+ woofer you can always make space for cheap ones that sound good.

well knowing mike it would still be an SQ woofer, just something that has maybe 300watt rms, like a Crystal CMP at RE RE prices

I'm really aiming to keep SoundSplinter surrounded in the image of supreme hi-fidelity. At this point, I haven't yet found a low-cost woofer that I'm comfortable selling - but that's certainly not to say that if I do, I won't jump on the opportunity to add it to the lineup!

They have been considered - but as I am not a mechanical engineer myself, I've been learning as I go along with this hobby. Therefore due to time limitations, I don't want to risk adding products that I know little about to my inventory. Once I've had time to really get to know and play with a variety of component sets, I will be more receptive to adding some to my lineup

well pick a rfew out and send them out on a demo ring and we can pick them out for you, hehe
