Posted April 25, 201114 yr taking back seats out:interior panels gutted:starting the frame for the box:
April 25, 201114 yr Author got some cardboard, messed around with some trim panel templates last night before it got too late. today i get off early, and will get the roof installed. then its kerf time i think these panels will look nice once suede'd upany ideas on what to do here (from the corner of the box to the B pillar?) i noticed how Robin did the panel in maliboom's car, and it looks nice. i dont know if i want to screw into the B pillar though. also, its going to need to house some 8-10" mids and 2 tweets per side, so ill prally have to go with 3/4, and not 1/4" or something flimsy.
April 25, 201114 yr Author i have to remove that resistor wired into the rear dome light, and move it to the front, becuase if it ever burns out i wont be able to replace it (for my LED dome lights)... it also gets VERY hot, so thats why it's been hanging from the roof, becuase i didnt wanna just stick it up there, and it burn through the headliner/catch fire.. loli had quite a bit more space i could have used, but both seats go all the way back, so no one will ever have leg room issues.
April 25, 201114 yr Author Getting closer... weekdays i only have an hour or less per day thats why I don't make much progress. This weekend though, ill have the whole inside of the box sealed up and ready for sub baffle and port.
April 25, 201114 yr Author trim panels ftw. wrapping in suede probably on Wednesday. pretty good, out of 2 sheets of birch, this is whats left. gonna use some for trim pieces/45s inside the box, will need a 3rd sheet though for the front baffle and possible a 4th for the sub baffle(s)
April 25, 201114 yr Author not exactly how i was planning on doing this, but it turned out pretty solid. i guess the only option i have here is to glass this gap really thick. should hold up with a few layers of glass right?
April 25, 201114 yr Author well, i noobed up the 2nd baffle. i cut it 29" tall, instead of 35.25" tall and then notching the corners. i was going to go buy another sheet, even though i didnt want to, and luckily HD and lowes had just closed for the night. so i just went with this lol.
April 25, 201114 yr Author yes, the center of the baffle is getting braced.http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg234/pimpedout97x/IMAG0169-1.jpg
April 25, 201114 yr Finally sold the Explorer VJ?And more pics of the VW, that engine shot is a tease.
April 25, 201114 yr Wow, nice build. However, you should have predrilled holes on a couple of pieces of wood. They split and will cause you some problems with SQ. Just ask, I'm sure somebody here will tell you that exact same thing. Keep up the work. Hope to see videos soon as well as seeing/hearing it in reality (since I hate theories) Edited April 25, 201114 yr by TechSys

April 25, 201114 yr Antique plates, lol Standard 1600 or has it had some fun done to it? Not that something that light needs all that much...
April 25, 201114 yr Author Damn man, put a body on that buggy, fill it with stereo, and call it a bass racer. lolhaha funny, i actually just got my HU in, and im putting 4 mids and bullets on it!Looks good so far, the old corvette is winking also! haha yea, that light always sticks up. should have that running within a few months too, need to get new weather stripping all around (all dry-rotted) and new tires, also DR'd.
April 25, 201114 yr Author Antique plates, lol Standard 1600 or has it had some fun done to it? Not that something that light needs all that much...yea, the guy built it like 20 years ago (the chassis) and its been registered as a 64 bug, so it was easy for me to get a tag (vs not having a title, you have to get it inspected and they make you have a windshield, wiper, all this BS)... so they gave me an antique plate i think its a 1600, not sure, and im pretty sure its stock. runs great with the exception of a few problems, couple oil leaks, sometimes wont start (starter or solenoid, possibly battery connections) but i paid 2,250 for it, and its in pretty good shape other than paint and needing wires cleaned up alot. i drive it daily (not to work) but after work and just cruising around. its only let me down a few times, but its not a brand new car so its understandable.it gets to like 60, probably would go faster if i loose the reduction boxes and put a new tranny from a bug (current is a bus setup, geared very low, but will climb a hill like no other, lol) 1st gear is done by like 5mph, lol
April 25, 201114 yr If you can do only 60 it is probably the original 40hp 1200. I'd expect more even yet, but that tranny could be slowing it down. A quick compression test on cylinder number 3 will tell you how it is fairing though. If that is fine, I'd do a quick valve adjustment as they can go out rather quickly.
