May 3, 201114 yr Will the face of the wall get trim panels as well or do you have something else in mind?
May 3, 201114 yr Did you ever get those corners glassed or taken care of some way or another? Just looks like it's getting harder and harder to get back there to work on them. Looks good though!
May 3, 201114 yr Author yea the trim panels will be all in place and covered this weekend. and no i havent glassed yet LOL. i can still get in the box though through the port.
May 4, 201114 yr Author bondo'd these up, going to try and cover the whole trim panel in a seamless piece of suede (the port will be a lighter suede than the rest of the trim panel)this is how i made them stay togethergonna bondo these today
May 4, 201114 yr Where do you get the button looking things that you used in this pic??Here is a option of the screw cover: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400170352445&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT
May 5, 201114 yr Author i bought them at lowes, paid more than if i would have ordered off ebay. i think im gonna order those now just so i have them. comes to .18 cents each on ebay, lowes was .68 cents each ... i only bought about 14 though.
May 5, 201114 yr Author Nice progress! Is suede pretty easy to work with?IMO its pretty easy, especially on flat panels like that. when the wall is done, the front seats are getting wrapped in Ultra Leather (like 85 a yard or something crazy) but its VERY comfortable haha.
May 5, 201114 yr Author after some sanding on the trim panels. hit it with another coat to fill in any gapsthe trim panels under the port
May 5, 201114 yr Author foty-fih'z fo da portreason its 1/4" longer than the port is because i still have to make a 1/4" trim piece that goes on the port, so i accounted for that. im going to make that then have robin round over the whole thing. i have a router and roundover bit, but im not the best with a router, so i dont wanna slip and make a bit notch in my port and have to re do it.
May 5, 201114 yr Author thanks. cant wait to get the port rounded over all around, its going to look nice!
May 10, 201114 yr Author really happy with how this is turning out! i only had a 1/2" roundover bit, im going to look for a 3/4" one tomorow and run over it with that, just to give it a little larger of a roundover.
May 10, 201114 yr I like the round-over look as well, seems to me it will help smooth the air movement in the transition through the port.
May 12, 201114 yr Author wewt. new bit. 1/2" shank, which meant new router. lolporter cable is the new one, on the right. not a plunge, but oh well. i like it.came with a free laminate trimmer (basically a mini router with a 1/4" collet)
