Posted June 3, 201114 yr Well I got this idea from a guy who recently posted in the forums.Since I never been a competitor, I would like to be informed on what are the do's and dont's in competitions.Things like charging up the batteries, not use the subs the same day of the competition etc.Hopefully this will be useful for some of us who have never competed!How do YOU guys prepare? June 3, 201114 yr find your peak frequency and peak volume days ahead. save your batteries. only do 1 burp for 3 seconds. dont try to keep burping, score will be lower, stuff might break.
June 3, 201114 yr My best would be to tell you to get out and go to a few Competitions, hang out with the guys and gals, and watch for your self ... Its ALOT of fun !!!
June 3, 201114 yr Turn the bass knob up...which I always forget to do.First run I did, I forgot I had the bass knob for the sundown amp all the way down, I just waited til the run was over then said I'd do another. I didn't know that I was allowed to reach in and adjust it (meca at least). I think I did 13xdb then second run I did a 143 I've heard cooling down the cabin with AC on full blast, then shutting off ac and closing all vents. If you have access to a TL beforehand, you can try seat positioning and visor adjustment.
June 3, 201114 yr Is it better to take the off the fuse going to the mids & highs amplifier ? So that all the power goes to the sub amp ?

June 3, 201114 yr Know all of your settings. Head unit volume, bass knob position, amp gain. Keep your batteries charged, no burping before your run to save amperage, know what windows/doors are loudest open/closed etc.Have fun.

June 4, 201114 yr The biggest flaw I see people do alot is demo the crap out of their vehicles before the run......I do not touch mine till after I meter and am happy with the score. Then I demo the crap out of it. Seat adjustment can big up nice gains....especially in S10's. Get the cabin as cold as possible with AC (does not work on every vehicle but does help on both of mine)Have your batteries nice and charged.If you have a termlab (test clovebox open,center console open,close open vents,defrost ext.) If the comp. allows it have someone sit in it (I gain my friends Ranger .5 db by jumping in)Have fun and be nice!!!Its all about fun and try to help the newcomers as much as possible!!!(I also try to carry extra fuses just incase someone needs one and didnt bring extras!!)
