Posted June 10, 201114 yr hello to all. as some of u know, i was on here about 4 months ago looking for opinions on a sub. well i went with a 2011 kicker l7 15 in a 5cf ported box and i must say it was LOUDDDD. but then the SQ started getting to me. so i found a orion hcca 12.2 on my local craigslist for 375 or possible trades. i messaged him and long story short, we did a straight trade. my kicker zx1500.1 amp will not run at 1 ohm so im running the sub at 4ohms and the sub is laughing at the zx's 750watts at 4 ohms. so i need a amp thats stable at 1 ohms, atleast 1200watts (no more than 2000. stock electric here fellas) and no more than $375. fire away!!
June 10, 201114 yr check out the aq1200, it does 1200watts @ 1ohm all day and they are great little amps for only $269.00. i have the aq2200 wired at 2ohms seeing around 1200watts and those are still $380.00 and still have 1100 watts on tap
June 10, 201114 yr Used Sundown at db-r ?New : Audiopipe is cheap, and a lot of people seem to like them. You have a good budget for that amp. You won't get nothing from the biggest brands but you the choice is huge. Clarion, Powerbass, ...I don't know. Good luck !
June 11, 201114 yr Author well i put my kicker zx1500.1 on craigslist for 3 hours and its already gone. i purchased a mtx 1501d on ebay for 299.99 with a warranty. me and my local shop buddy were discussing the iissue. he is a big audiopipe guy himself and recommended the audiopipe3000d. then we got to talking about mtx and there amps and he said that the 1501d would be better on my electrical (which is stock) and decent power.
June 11, 201114 yr yea the new aq1200d, there amps are very solid for a low cost, almost too low to be true haha, AQ all day!!

June 15, 201114 yr Why tuned so low? Maybe that's your preference but it is certainly lower than the norm
June 15, 201114 yr I agree that tuning is a little low. The HCCA's like to be tuned from 32 to around 36 depending on your preference. The box volume sounds good though as they don't need a huge box to get loud (you can throw em in about 2.1 after disp. and they'll like it). I will say this though if you can ever get around to throwing your electrical some upgrades those subs will handle 3K daily as long as it's clean. Those are some beast subs for sure. I love mine.
June 15, 201114 yr Author sorry i mean 36Hz lol but ya i got my 1501d amp today and WOW. im very impressed with theis sub and amp. it is louder than the 2011 kicker l7 15 i had in a 5CF box and for how low and loud it got, i didnt think 1 12 could do it. but sure enough the hcca does! i gave the box builder a down payment to get started on it. 3.0CF tuned to 36Hz. hes double facing it and building a craddle for the magnet. sound good for $150? he built me a sealed box for a 15" L5 i used to have and it was 2x's louder than the pre-fab. box i had previous to his box. and i can choose what color carpet i want. lol

The last box I built cost me about $50 in supplies (mdf, glue, silicone, dowels, screws, and paint), that's excluding carpet.
June 15, 201114 yr Author Is that 3 cubes before displacements or after?im guessing befor. so it will still be 2.7cf the sub is .3 so ya lol
