I got rid of the last 3 i owned due to numerous issues i've had with them. My first car was a civic, and well, i've always wanted a blue SI. I found this one a couple states away fs for 6k. Tons of mods, decent mileage, and extremely good on gas, so i said why not?

Pic from a meet a month before i took ownership

It's pretty much perfect exterior wise. Just needs a rear lip and darker tint.

Doing some measurements, i have about 5 1/2 cubes available for a sub box.

Here are my options

3 12" xcons sealed. This would be the cheapest of the 3 since i already have 2

1 15" aa smd. Not sure how much one of these will cost me, I've heard from 800 to a 1k?

2 12" zcons

What would you go with and why? The goal is clean, and loud with minimal distortion. Haven't bothered with the electrical yet, but i'm hoping i can get by with a h/o alt and 2 batteries(1 upfront and 1 out back)

Okay I read in another thread where you were slamming projectors being used in a grand prix and calling it rice.

And your buying this? This is rice.

Any way on to actually being somewhat helpful...

I'm guessing the zcons would be in a ported box? The xcons in a sealed enclosure would (personally) sound the best and get fairly loud, but the others in ported enclosures may be louder.

Have you already used your 2 12" xcons in a setup before? Was it not enough output? Enclosure specs?

How is the civic ricey? No ricey body kit, legit wheels, not super slammed lol

I used the xcons before.. First box was 4.2 tuned to 30hz. Sounded great..got loud, and mashed the lows. 2nd box was 2.8 sealed i believe. That box sounded better and blended in more. Got loud too. Honestly, it was enough output, but you always end up wanting more.

I know I always want more, so if you know that your going to want more and more then I would lessen the goal of sq and lean more towards spl. All of the drivers perform very well musically (yes I've heard all three drivers).

I would try and find someone else who has a similar civic and competes, see what different enclosures they've tried and what worked the best.

I checked a couple forums, but most setups were pure spl and all about numbers. I could careless bout that

It could still help, just something to base off of. Any how, are you willing to fire forward and seal the cabin off from the trunk?

I could do that, don't think i'd have the width if u went with the 3 12's tho

Your looking around 39" in width, what's the smallest width in the trunk area and opening to cabin

I am biased, but I like the 3 Xcon idea. Always loved that paint color.

41.5" in width, so i should be good

What's the process of firing forward? How would i fully seal it off?

The color was really the reason i went for it. Plus gas is almost 5 bucks a gallon :suicide-santa:

eggy.. car looks hot... and ricey... but I like it... Anyway, isn't 3 -12" too much? I'm on 1 15" and it's like DAYUM! in my Camry.... Have to lower gain on sub amp and on HU to get a match at higher volumes... part of it could be my front stage is weak but either way... 3 -12" XCONS sounds ridiculously insane of an idea.... Stick with the 2 and see if ported sealed could fit like ulrisa had in his Volvo.....

Car looks good man. Rims aren't my taste, but its a nice car. I vote for the 3 XCONs too since you know you like them and already have 2

As long as your fine with the wiring config, got enough volume for the enclosure and you can fit'm, I'd go with 3 of the xcons, hell you already got two :P

Over time, you just build a tolerance for it. Before the xcons, i had 2 btl's which had more output, but sounded like ass on anything other than rap.

My planned front stage should be able to keep up and then some, so no problems there.

The 2 i have now are dual 2's..1 more should bring me down to 1 ohm, correct?

4 ID cxs mids(2 ohm version) These were actually in the car when i bought them. Owner didn't know what he had and just gave them to me.

2 are going in the doors for midrange and the other 2 are going in kick panels for midbass.

B&C de500 horns + ID horn bodies(I'm recycling these from my last setup)

All gonna be powered by a Leviathan. So, if my math is correct, i should have around 1300w on tap for the front stage.

dayum... I cannot copy you then... lol

Looks nice, I like the wheels and the color. I think 3 xcons sealed would be sweet.

it would be insane...

Wow in that little honda civic hahaha your gonna destroy that car before it even has a chance to break in :), tuned in for this one, iv got a 05 honda civic 4 door, i couldnt imagine 3 xcons in a 2door lol

What are some of the benefits of firing forward?

If properly sealed from the trunk, your cabin volume would drop slightly, thus less room to pressurize, more cabin gain, more output :)

I've always read from quite a few people that when they fired forward, they had a little better sq.

Oh and your trunk shouldn't flex like a bitch, no nasty annoying ass trunk rattle :P

Forward firing, sealed into the cabin has the benefits of not having to worry about in trunk cancellations. It also help tremendously with rattles and vibrations as the trunk is no longer a factor in the pressurization of things. It helps also that the subs have only to pressurize the cabin of the vehicle. With less air to pressurize there's more potential there for getting louder.

All in a nutshell. I've always just liked the sound better sealed to the cabin as well.

Just my .02
