Posted June 27, 201114 yr I'm looking to upgrade my electrical in my RSX.. I have a khc1400 up front and khc2000 in the rear and don't have space for anymore batteries!! I want to ge a good 270amp alternator, will this be wise to do with only one battery in the rear?Rite now I gotta zx2500 on a DD 9518g.. Looking to upgrade to a bigger amp maybe a VFL 500.1 (all daily listening..no competition)
June 27, 201114 yr Author Im awear of that but I was jus wondering if all that alternator power would be wasted widout a proper battery bank! Or will my amps get power strait from the alternator

Install your system and monitor voltage drops, if you do plan on upgrading dont think just an H/O Alternator will be enough. You will probably also need another battery or two or three in the rear, who knows but start saving up.

Or will my amps get power strait from the alternatorIn our "world" of cheap high power amplifiers a high ouput alternator is never a waste of money imo. If you were only installing a small four channel or less than 500wrms the stock alt would be fine (assuming it works properly). A 270a alternator is not going to supply 270a to the amplifiers. There is a decent amount of vehicle draw as well. Taking your equipment into consideration get the alternator and keep your current batery setup as well. Even if you dont drive around at full blast 24/7 monitor your voltage. If it drops into the sub 12v range or lower consider adding another run of wire from battery to battery or a second alt

Looking to upgrade to a bigger amp maybe a VFL 500.1 (all daily listening..no competition)If you have significant voltage drop, a high output alternator would be the best remedy whether you have 1 or 10 batteries. I'm not saying you should run out and buy one because I really don't know anything about your electrical woes. You should provide us with a little more information. What is your stock alternator amperage? How severe is the voltage drop are you experiencing?Have you upgraded the big 3?
June 27, 201114 yr Author Yes I have the big 3.. I am goin to get the 270amp from mechman.. I would love to be running 3batteries total but The only problem is I have NO space for another battery other than the one I already have in the real lol.. My question was if only having one battery in the back would be a problem
June 27, 201114 yr Author I don't know if having all that current and no place to store it would be an issue or would the amp just take current as the alternator makes it? Most systems I see has HO alternator witha couple of batts in the back, wish I could have done that but space is limited
