Posted August 10, 201114 yr On a suv which way should the subs and port be pointed. I was told subs up port forward what is best?
August 10, 201114 yr Ive heard subs up and port to the rear depending if you have enough room between port and back hatch, or port and subs up.
August 10, 201114 yr oops, sorry, I am out of it this morning. I have seen setups I like with sub up/port up, sub up/port back and sub forward/port up.
August 10, 201114 yr subs forward was used for competing where the rear seat was folded down, not firing directly into the rear seat.

August 10, 201114 yr Would be able to give a better recommendation with the size of box you're building and the size available in the vehicle. IIRC you need to measure the width of the port and make sure you have that much room between the port and the rear gate.
August 10, 201114 yr For the most output: subs up/port back would be the best. How do you know Young? Just curious as well.

August 10, 201114 yr Sub up port to passenger side was my best score.Could list the different positions that you tried with a little description about the differences? I think it may help others with the same question.

August 10, 201114 yr For the most output: subs up/port back would be the best. How do you know Young? Just curious as well.Hours of testing in multiple vehicles. This doesn't mean that there aren't exceptions. Generic question got my generic answer. He will have to figure out what works best for him. The "best" could mean more bass or better sound quality. Who knows.

August 11, 201114 yr Most competitors in SUVs see best results with the subs up, and port to the rear. Sometimes the port very close to the hatch gains, sometimes port far away gains, but for the most part, this orientation is the best for overall output.
August 15, 201114 yr Reelbigfish92 on here has his n2 18in sub up port back. I would have to guess only inches away from the hatch. It definitely has some output As far as I know though that is the only way he has tried
August 15, 201114 yr Sub up, port back 5" away from back doorProve how its better, then you can use that blanket statement.

August 15, 201114 yr Author Sub up, port back 5" away from back doorThe box I have gives me subs toward hatch and port toward hatch.
