like the topic says, i'm looking to do a budget build. I already have an old 500/1 amp.

I'm looking to pick up a used 10w3v3 on ebay for like $110. I want to build a 2.0cf box with a 4" port tuned to 32hz.

Question is: is the 2cf box and 4" port too big? or am I still within the realms of "should be ok". I'll be giving it 500 watts. What it's rated at.

yeah i was thinking the same thing...the thing is i CAN comfortably have a 2CF box in my vehicle without feeling like i took too much space...

hmm, maybe i can go with a bigger sub...or maybe i can reduce the box and use a 3" port instead...

QUESTION: I've heard that 3" precision ports are usually ok with 10" subs, right? I recall that with a precision ports, you can go with a smaller port area then a slot port...

A 32 Hz tuning for a small box require an extra long port, and will take much room in the box.

Given the displacement capabilities of the W3, a 4" port is the minimum I would use.

not really, i am thinking about a 2.0cf net box. that means only a 13.5" long 4" port to tune it to 32hz. 98GMC has good suggestions but I think the SD-2 would be a better match since it's rated for a little more power.

i was thinking that as well...that's also what carstereo.com was saying.

Try modeling the subs in WinISD It won't show cabin gain but you can see excursion and the port air speed. It could help you chose a driver and box.

And there is no way you can make a 1.75cf box NET and a port in a 2 cuft space. No way, no how.

sorry man, we're not talking about the same thing...i'm just saying JL says you can use a 12w3v3 with 1.75cf net.

even if i wasn't talking about that, i don't see how you couldn't get a 1.75cf net if you had 2cf of overall net space, i.e. internal volume. the 12w3v3 has a displacement of .07cf. One 4" port that's 15" long has a displacement of .11cf. That's 2.00-.11-.07=1.82.

if you're talking about a slot port then yes, i concur, you'd have a harder time getting the 1.75cf with a 2.0cf internal space.
