Need an alternator bracket done for more than a reasonable price? I just got mine for 1/3rd of what some of the people were asking! Nathan from Excessive Amperage suggested I contact Mario from [email protected] about making a mounting bracket for my 2nd HO alt.

That's a big heavy alt on what looks like a 1/4" plate. With no support on the rear of the alt that plate is going to succumb to vibrations, leading to premature belt wear and slipping. In all applications GM uses that alt in it is secured with tabs infront and behind the the alts mounting provision.

He needs a gusset on that plate. And I would turn the voltage up on my mig welder to get better penetration. The bead should be concave not convex like in the photo.

True, doesn't look like a very experience welder. Not that it won't hold up, because I suck at welding, and rarely have one fail.

And honestly, there's nothing special about that bracket, and basically anybody with more than basic tools could make it.

As far as strength, its definitely isn't overkill. But I don't see a huge problem in why it wouldn't work.

Think about T mount alternators, this just turns a normal mount into it. Actually, GM makes a T mount in that case style, and could of just bought that alternator and not used a poor designed/built bracket.

So very true.

I only asked to make sure nothing was over looked. A second set of eyes looking at the same situation is always helpful. Trial and error can get to be very costly in this hobby. I know, I've had a few snags in my projects. I'd hate to see you have issues with your setup. Belts and alternators aren't cheap and warranty issues turn into finger pointing matches amongst manufacturers leaving the consumer f*cked. I'll pitch in and offer some help. Get us some pics of your setup fully installed, don't run it. If there is nothing supporting the rear of the alternator I'll make a rear tab and gusset for you. That way you can have a local welder weld them on for you.
