Posted September 1, 201114 yr Hey guys, I'm finally biting the bullett and putting some bass in my 2012 Mustang 5.0... It has the shaker 500 system, but I def need more thump. My available dimensions are 38"W x 15"H x 11"DThose are the Max dimensions for the space I want to take up. It calculates out to 2.7ft^3 using the max dimensions.I am trying to pick between 3 10's in a sealed box, or 2 12's sealed, or one 12 ported....I initially wanted a single 15 sealed but I just don't have the height as my MAX height is 15" for the box.I will be powering it with a Hifonix bxi1610d (1600wrms@1ohm). I have been looking at 3 10w3v3's, or type-r's, as those can both be had fairly cheap online. Any other suggestions????
September 2, 201114 yr What's your budget? Goals? Do you have an amp already? That information is necessary to provide help.
September 2, 201114 yr Author My goals are loud but sound good. I will sacrifice spl for sq, but I need it to be fairly loud. I'll be using my hifonics bxi1610d I listed above. Budget will be between $300-400...
September 2, 201114 yr Author It has a JLT intake, Borla Touring exhaust, and the 93octane street tune from Jon Lund Gonna supercharge it either this winter or next spring...Oh ya, and FRPP K-springs 1.5" drop Edited September 2, 201114 yr by mebcop
September 2, 201114 yr Author Thanx SteveAny suggestions on what sub setup I should run? The more I think about it the more I'm leaning to a good single ported 12....
September 2, 201114 yr Buy a Kenne Bell or a Whipple and listen to the whine instead. . . Or a couple twins spooling.
September 2, 201114 yr Author Fit and finish of the turbo kits isn't quite what I require for my car... Yet. The roush s/c is putting out some REAL nice numbers!!! Prob run about 9psi and be in the 600whp ballpark.
September 2, 201114 yr A single 12" in a well designed vented enclosure should suit your needs. Personally I'd go that route over sealed. There are a lot of options you could go with sub-wise. You might want to look into an xcon.
September 2, 201114 yr A 12" Q sounds incredible, both ported and sealed, it would likely be enough output for you considering you want SQ over SPL.
September 2, 201114 yr Author Thanx guys. Do u think a single Q would be enough? I don't need "rattle the teeth out of your head" loud, but I am fighting a moderately loud exhaust.
September 2, 201114 yr Get a SSA Xcon 12" ported ! An Icon if your budget is too tight.Or a Fi BL or BTL for the loud side !Your amp will be powerful enough for all those subs.BTW you have a really nice car. Must be fast too ! Congrats !
September 2, 201114 yr A single Q could rattle your teeth if you designed it to do so. It's all in the enclosure you put it in
September 2, 201114 yr Author Oh, and I should have mentioned this at the beginning. The sub will be firing into the car, sealing the cabin of the car from the trunk. There's about 6-8" between the rear seats and the sub when the seats are up...
September 2, 201114 yr Admin It is a sale on IA products that happens once every 3 years. I will be updating the SSA store pricing this weekend for the start of the sale.
September 2, 201114 yr My vote goes to an xcon. Your amp is perfect for it and too much for a q. Or wait for the ia sale. I'm pretty curious about that.
