Posted November 2, 201113 yr I have a chance to pick up a Ultra Linear UL1500X for $50 bucks and was wondering if it was a good amp and price? November 2, 201113 yr Author Thanks, I know I can't go wrong for $50 but is the amp any good? I never used Ultra brand before and was looking for someone that maybe used this amp before.

November 3, 201113 yr Admin Ultra has seemed to have a mixed track record. They came on really hot two years ago, again another one of these better then all others based on some of the hype, but when some people started paying attention and using the products themselves, things changed a little. They had some big traffic on DIYma for a few months, and now there is almost no mention of them anywhere. We almost hosted the Ultra forum here on SSA, but then with the issues some customers had with the owner, right from the get go, we decided not to. From what I remember, supposedly the amps share a lot of bits from an ARC design.
November 4, 201113 yr Author I picked up the UL1500X plugged it in and up in smoke. I hurried up and unplugged it as fast as I could. I took it in the house and took the top cover off and found this.Guess I should of known better that that. Edited November 4, 201113 yr by Robertjr79
