Posted November 27, 201113 yr I'm looking at purchasing either an Xcon or a Zcon. The Xcon is listed as having an aluminum shorting ring in the motor. My question is whether the Zcon does or not? I am assuming that it does not have an inductance demodulation circuit in the motor since it is not listed under the features. Can anyone confirm this please? Thanks.
November 27, 201113 yr Admin No, the Zcon does not have a shorting ring. It is a nice indicator at the different performance goals of the Xcon compared to the Zcon. The Zcon may kind of look like a taller Xcon, but there are different things going on inside that really set them apart. For high output in a brute force nature, the Zcon is the option. For flatter response, high xmax and strong output, the Xcon is the option. Both have massive coils, it is just how each driver employs it differently.
