Posted December 21, 201113 yr So I have never seen one of these amps before and I thought I would share!http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160701429820#ht_500wt_1413http://www.hotwire.net.nz/shop/car-audio/amplifiers/soundstream-human-reign2also has anyone else seen one of these and maybe can give some insight? when I first seen it I thought of that series staring Bruce Campbel staring in Evil dead and his silly book called the Naturan Demanto or Necronomiconclearly not the same thing but it brought back some old memories of nightmares I had when I was a kid lol! (1980~)
December 21, 201113 yr That's the Human Reign. It's just a pricey gimmick amplifier. If you need to spend all that money to stand out, then have at it. There's nothing special about it aside from the art form.
December 21, 201113 yr Author I kinda figured that but then I thought wait if a company goes though that much work to make something stand out then it should have some kind a flux capacitor in it or something out of the ordinary or why would you do something like that lol! then again for the money I guess but $8k online WOW and 1200 on eBay lol!
December 21, 201113 yr Nothing special as Tirefryr stated just a gimmick amp with a special art form heatsink.
December 21, 201113 yr I wouldn't really call them old school either. The original came out maybe 10 years ago. They were a last ditch effort to save the company before they were bought out by PA. They were great performing amps though.
December 21, 201113 yr Admin That was a very nice amp. A little history to add to what Ryan said; there were two different versions of that actual amplifier. The hand done model was $44k, yes you read that right. There was an optional mold cover that looked the same, for around $2k I believe. I am a big fan of the older SoundStream, even with their complexity and leaning toward the slightly fragile side in a few cases, they had some excellent offerings. I would love to try out the new Reference models as the new owners of SoundStream are claiming they are identical to the old models. I still regret selling my last 2 SoundStream's a few years back. I hold their older, USA-made models in the same regard as the older USA-made Zed, Zapco and PG.
