Posted February 28, 200619 yr Just wondering I think that I would probably buy a set just to play with and they would be for lack of a better term retarded loud and clean
February 28, 200619 yr If you saw the price i think you would have a different viewI doubt they would sell.
February 28, 200619 yr yea... i mean the 12's and 15's arent the highest selling drivers, so the 18's would be out of the question
February 28, 200619 yr Yes.The big boy 18's wouldnt stand a chance in the SQ dept.Just imagine one LMT 18 in your HT with 2000W on it....mmmmwall flex rules
February 28, 200619 yr Admin Yes.The big boy 18's wouldnt stand a chance in the SQ dept.Just imagine one LMT 18 in your HT with 4000W on it....mmmmwall foundation rules fixed
February 28, 200619 yr .. would be sweet though You should have one proto'd up just to play around with
February 28, 200619 yr Author Price wouldn't scare me I already have two 4hp's one built be Stephen and the other by Thilo at tc thats kinda why I was wondering why not an lmt it would up sd and should help with efficiency even if the mms goes up. That and I would like to flex some stuff and I should have room with the install I'm doing right now and power from two tru SH-1's
February 28, 200619 yr market to actually produce an 18" woofer just isnt thereyeah you might sell 10 or 12 of them...but the cost of production would be so high that it really wouldnt be worth fooling with
February 28, 200619 yr Author Just have them build when requested then you wouldn't have to worry about over head you could even do a no warrenty deal I waited about 2 weeks for my first 18, 3 months for 4 15 3hps with the tall thin suround and about 3 months on the last 18 waiting is not a problem. I really not seeing that huge of jump in production lets say maybe max 50-100 over a 15 least wise if you use pretty much off the shelf parts Pretty sure TC has all the parts at hand. Just a thought and wishful thinking
March 1, 200619 yr that would be a monster..lol...one i'd like to see at least proto'd up...and like the uber, could be built on a very limited, prepaid, on demand type situation.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
March 1, 200619 yr Just have them build when requested then you wouldn't have to worry about over headThey would still have to stock all of the parts, and have any parts that aren't off the shelf custom tooled. And that would cost $$.
March 1, 200619 yr Indeed, one-offs are absolutely ridiculously priced. I mean I might be able to snag one for a demo setup -- but having them made to order just wouldn't be worth it given the time management issues on the production end of things, not to mention the associated costs. If and when the time comes, I'd want to include it as a full addition to our lineup rather than a special order kind o' deal. Either way, this is not in the immediate future
March 1, 200619 yr Would almost have to be a one batch run of x units and that woudl suck to predict...mostly of course if you were wrong.
March 2, 200619 yr Any chance of dropping an 18" Rl-p?Not terribly likely. I don't believe we have any baskets tooled for that motor in that size. The only 18's I see being built down at the plant are using the Eclipse basket or are pro-audio speakers. I won't count out adding an 18 to the lineup, but it will be a ways off.
March 2, 200619 yr Author I think 18's in general are a good move p series would be a good move as well although I'm pretty attached to my pair of 18'sEmm deaf is good
March 2, 200619 yr Yep, those would be the Eclipse baskets. I've shyed away from putting those to use in my own lineup, as Eclipse paid for the tooling so there could be potential legal issues if they were used in a subwoofer marketed for car audio enthusiasts. It is a nice basket though.
March 3, 200619 yr lol...18" rl-p's would indeed be yummy...but then again, i'm downsizing....arrgghhhhhhwheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
