I just ordered an Icon 10 last week. (which im really excited about) While checking my order status i came to find that during the phase awaiting shipment, that meant my sub was actually being built as i ordered it. This is new to me as the last time i ordered subs they were just shipped right to me off the shelf. I kind of like that my sub was made as i ordered it. Then i got curious as to the build process and after searching and not finding anything im wondering if anyone knows of a video or maybe a set of pictures that kind of gives you an idea of the build process of the actual subwoofer from start to finish. Im assuming there are certain parts they would want to leave out and i can understand that, but i was just curious if there was anything out there.

Where did you get that you sub is being built from "awaiting shipment"? SSA usually keeps a stock of subs to send out when purchased.

In the about section thats what it says.

also on the product page it says to allow 7-14 days for build time.

Gotcha'.

As far as putting the drivers together it's "pretty much" bolting the motor to the basket, glueing the soft parts on the frame and putting the dust cap on. Not all too much to see. Search around for "reconing" and you should get some picutures of putting soft parts on the basket of a sub.

Actually unless there is stock at the warehouse they are made to order, each sub is machined, magnetized and put together by hand.

this is a general overview how all subs are made.

That's why I said they usually keep stock. Never said they didn't ever get the subs hand built to order.

Thanks for the vid!

It is very difficult to keep an inventory on Icon, Xcon and Zcon because of the time they require in machining alone. Part of what sets them above most. ;).
