Posted February 28, 201213 yr So i need to set my gain to 24.49vMy multimeter is in AC volts mode and its only reading like .200v... Ugh???
February 28, 201213 yr Have you checked the battery in the DMM? How high did you turn the gain? What volume are you using? Is it a test tone?
February 28, 201213 yr Author Yeah battery is good as its newGain is at lowest right now. However even when i turn to ac volts it starts off as 0.000 instead of 00.00im using volume 25/35 yes 50hz 0db
February 28, 201213 yr Are there multiple settings for AC volts? Or is it an automatic DMM? The DMM I use (from around the early 90's) has a turn dial with multiple settings for different measurements.
February 28, 201213 yr Author http://www.extech.com/instruments/product.asp?catid=49&prodid=291idk if its scewed up but its shows DC with the 00.00then if i select AC it goes to 0.000
February 28, 201213 yr It should still be accurate.. just take what ever number is displayed and moved the decimal place to the right.
February 28, 201213 yr You need to set the range if possible. Even auto ranging meters will sometimes rang incorrectly.
February 28, 201213 yr I fail to see a problem, '00.00' is the exact same as '0.000', the possible precision however is different. Do you have a voltage multiplier on your amp?
February 28, 201213 yr after you select ac, try using the select button and see if it moves the decimal point to 00.00, hence changing the range, its just a matter of finding how you can move the decimal point..
February 28, 201213 yr What you are seeing is normal as far as the display reading 0.00ACv.The reason you aren't getting any amplification is cause the gain is all the way down. You are probably reading the RCA voltage. What happens when you turn the gain up to 1/2, with volume at 25?
February 28, 201213 yr Then its probably not a True RMS meter. But it is reading correct. Did you turn the gain up any like I suggested? Depending on your deck you may only see ~.5-1.2ACv if your gain is all the way down.
February 28, 201213 yr Author I didnt have gain turned up enough for the decimal point to move over God im an idiot LOL
